If you could give the Club a wish list of players who we could reasonably expect to sign then who will be on it? I am not talking about released players who will demand silly wages because they are on a free but proper players who can develop the team. I give you two players who were playing in League two last season.... Danny Mayor, a left winger who does that little bit extra at times and who has an eye for a goal. Named Sky Bet player of the season for last season and is 24 Ryan Woods, a Nicky Baily type player, his best position is centre mid but he can also play at right back and left back. Was named as one of the best prospects outside the Prem and he is only 21. Both would require a sizable transfer fee and decent wages but they would both have the potential to play in Prem at some time in the future. We have a number of reasonable young centre backs (plus Joe of course) but we need two 28 to 32 year old experienced Centre Backs to help the youngsters through....... you win nothing with a team full of kids! She's far less than average, much like her Chief Executive skills ........ and I'm not particularly choosy
I have been keeping an eye on his career ever since he destroyed us in the League Cup during our last season in Div One. He thought he was too good for Preston, went to Sheff Wed where he totally flopped, ended up at Bury in Div Two and played a big part in them getting promoted to Div One. Had he stayed at Preston he would now be in the Championship. According to the Preston and Sheff Wed boards he is actually right-footed. Not sure about him. Typical bloody winger, only turned it on one match in eight until he dropped to Div Two. Could be another Danny Green. But if Nick Pope will vouch for him, that's good enough for me. Depends on the price. We missed our chance to sign him for peanuts when his career was going nowhere. Fails the height test and the hair-colour test. I don't think ginger looks good with red shirts. Seriously, maybe worth a punt. We have no-one oven-ready to step up from our youngsters in that position. Bradley Jordan and Munns didn't make it. Having Diarra gives him a year to find his feet and bulk up.
Speaking as a strawberry blonde you are right; it's always pained me that I could never wear a Holland shirt either. In terms of a wish list since I stopped playing Football Manager I don't really know of any decent players since the days of Stuart Beavon, Anthony Wordsworth and Ryan Harley.
Can, "Having a New Owner?" count as a wish list? Someone as filthy rich as Roman Abramovich; that sticks with the club for the next 50 years, brining us success and keeping players that we like and actually purchasing some quality gems (that are not just from Belgium).
