Tried some soda bread with my soup, it was reduced in Waitrose so thought I’d give it a go. Tasted like it had been dipped in chemicals. The birds liked it. Will stick to proper British bread from now on, with my minestrone or mulligatawny.

I'm making a stew for tonight. All in the slow cooker.

I'll be using diced beef, mince, bacon (smoked) potatoes, onions, carrots.

Excellent choice for a cold night.

I have a slow cooker and I used it religiously for the first 6 months but I've not used it for about 4 years now <laugh> It's the way it seems to go.

I'd recommend some pearl barley in that.

    Make it a broth.

Really good, thickens it up at treat and adds some fibre.

    Lentils good otherwise, red ones.

That is my favourite right enough.

Why San Francisco? San Franciso isn't known for its clam chowder. ****s, yes but clam chowder, no. If you want to have a good clam chowder then you want to go to New England. Maine or Massachusetts would be your best bet <cheers>
