    This seems to be the benchmark used to judge foreign stars who don't play in EPL.

    Is it that hard?

    Valencia seemed to handle it ok.

    I think it's more of a comment on the level of respect that foreign players get from defences, and the protection they get from referees. Andy Carroll got the **** kicked out of him by the Stoke defence last weekend, if that'd happened in Spain the Stoke defence would've probably seen a couple of red cards. People use that logic to try and claim that highly rated European players wouldn't do so well in England, as well as to explain players like Shevchenko, Crespo, Forlan, Kezman, Morientes and Mutu who scored for fun in Europe but struggled over here.
