Neil Dewsnip announcement finally lands: https://www.pafc.co.uk/news/director-football-neil-dewsnip-departs-argyle
Not sure how to take that....a three week wait to be told that he was leaving. Was there a parting of the ways.....a disagreement of the way ahead ....maybe regarding Rooney being dismissed who can be sure ? What seems to be sure is that Argyle's squad is not as bad as it seemed to be under Wayne Rooney's leadership. What we do know is that Argyle have grabbed a possible life line and a tremendous boost in the last three games.....especial with our first away win at a Premiership club with the second best home record in the league.....ok they rested quite a few players.....but we can only beat what is put in front of us....remember they had brought some first team fire power on before we scored....and we still kept our second clean sheet on the trot.. Liverpool might be in the future.....but our immediate job is to do well in the next three home games....starting with Oxford tomorrow night.....and doing well under our new manager.....with the new manager bounce that does seem to happen quite often.....I hope we haven't already seen it under Nance and Edwards.
No it's three weeks since it was rumoured he was leaving. Also, we appear to have rested some players against Brentford: Szucs, Cissoko and Gyabi... possibly Al Hajj
The "rumour" by Ian Newell was I think inside information and cast iron......so not just a shot in the dark.....so it was true from the beginning and confirmed today. Yes I would agree that those four players would have a good chance of being first choices.
He doesn't get everything right. However he does have contacts. Just listened to the opening speech to the squad and staff by our newbie manager. Have to say it was quite impressive and was enough to make you like him already. If he works as well as he talks then we are in for a treat. Class move to praise Nance at the outset.
He owns pasoti and was one of the upfront lot who saved the club from liquidation. Well he was there but if you listen to some he was part of the second coming. He shared the box with Brent and Co. when Brent took over. He does have contacts but isn't as in with the in crowd as once was.
Miron Muslic spoke well while addressing the playing staff.....obvious that he expect nothing short of a 100% from the players and obvious that he will give everything in return......and he will be depending on Nancekevill in these early weeks to help the transition until he start to do what he wants to change to make it his team......encouraging.
I just watched the 15 minute interview with Miron Muslic. His English is very good and he speaks 3 other languages! If he manages as well as he speaks, we're onto a winner here. Simplicity and clarity, those are the words that jumped out. That's what he wants to bring to the team. Compact, tight, high up the pitch. Work like a swarm. Attack together, defend together. No interest in the medium and long term at the moment, just collecting points. I believe we are competitive enough to stay up and I am convinced we have the character to achieve this. With the support of the Green Army, there is nothing we should be afraid of.
And also the press conference. Swarm again, high up the pitch. He's had little time to assess Oxford as opponents so the emphasis is focussing on getting our team organised with a simple, clear, tight structure, building on Saturday.
Leeds have lent Joe Gelhardt to Hull until the end of season.....Argyle had shown interest in him.......Hull just down the road from Leeds....compared to Plymouth so no brainer really.
We certainly need a striker. What with injuries and so on, we were short in that department before and Andre Gray has left now.
Leeds are reportedly interested in signing Bali Mumba. His Wiki page says he signed a 4 year contract in July 2023. Firstly, as with Morgan Whittaker, the price would have to be right. We paid a million for him and having played a lot of games, must be worth several multiples of that now. The problem with selling in January is of course having time and the ability to sign a replacement. More to the point though, how does Muslic intend to play in the future? Back 4? Back 3?
If Leeds are aiming at the premiership then what benefit is Mumba to them......he isn't that standard and never will be. Only let him go if they offer silly money.....we need him here.......we need him here to help our relegation battle
This is nonsense isn't it? Just stirring the s**t. The transfer window closes on the 3rd Feb, 14 days from now. If we were to accept a bid for Whittaker, assuming there one came in, could we spend the money well in two weeks or less from a standing start? Unlikely. https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/plymouth-argyle-sell-morgan-whittaker-9874621
Time we go down our list of possibles.....we'll be too late to get quality players in.....our Bank Balance is not enough to get the right players to come to our rescue.
