Having had sleet yesterday.....plus a ground frost this morning....plus washing on the line as stiff as cardboard....I have decided that winter has definately arrived.
Yes we do....but Mrs Plym prefers to dry things outdoors in the fresh air......trouble is sometimes it is to fresh.
We do have a tumble drier but with energy prices where they are, the washing line is definitely a better option. I’m told that instead I could save thousands merely by not turning on various lamps whenever I’m at home, even in daylight. Various Government pleas to “put those lights out” are quoted back at me but I’ve explained out that’s nothing to do with us saving money, it’s so the Government can turn one power station off when 27 million homes do it. All to no avail. The low energy bulbs in the lamps are entirely to blame for the energy crisis. Next week, I’ll explain why I could save thousands by not always having the air-con on in the car.
We do not have a dishwasher or a tumble drier either. We do have a spinner which takes most of the water out of the washing even when things are washed by hand. Now there is an old fashioned thing washing by hand. There are 16 houses in our street and I would say that more than half use a washing line at least once a week. I don't even get how any of that is weird. The only thing in our house that is on standby is the Wi-fi. The only reason that is like that is because we were forced into having the landline connected to the internet by Virgin. If we switch the box off the phone goes with it. The only reason I have a mobile phone now is in case the power goes or the internet goes and we are without a means of contact. My mobile is switched off unless I go out and take it with me in case of accidents or emergencies. I know, I'm just a sweet old fashioned thing.......
Just watching Coventry v Sheffield United. One for the Cheating Barsteward List. Bassette of Coventry City. A disgrace to football.
This is the cheating b*****d I'm talking about. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/c9wrzk1k1zgo. He goes down after a confrontation with Sheffield United's Ahmedhodžić, who'd foolishly got hold of Bassette's throat. The latter goes down holding his face not his throat, and gets Ahmedhodžić sent off. Bassette is then stages the usual miracle recovery and is caught on close-up camera sniggering with his team mates and winking al la Ronaldo & Rooney, Scum bag. https://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/foo...g-not-chuckling-after-pundit-reaction-4882554
Home to Oxford on Saturday.....this could be a must win match for Wayne Rooney.....if are understrength team get tonked at home as well as away....that surely would be unacceptable for the green army.....our home record is the only thing keeping us out of the bottom three at the moment.
Apparently there has been no discussion on Wayne Rooney by the Board or anyone else. Also apparently it's watch this space for a new investor which would take our budget up to at least midtable if it comes off. Watch this space.
https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/plymouth-argyle-fans-forum-live-9759434 Simon Hallett sounds optimistic about a new investor coming on board. He says the EFL are beginning the approval process. Simon Hallett has said funds from the potential new investor in Argyle would take the club's financial spending power from the bottom two or three in the Championship to just below halfway if the deal is completed.
So new investment in the club mentioned ....to be used on the playing staff and enlarging the stadium capacity. Also Wayne Rooney still has the backing of Simon Hallett......my concern is that the retention of Rooney is part of any financial deal that is being done and that would be a dangerous way to go.
A bit more detail on a potential new investor https://www.plymouthherald.co.uk/sport/football/plymouth-argyle-investor-simon-hallett-9760088
Wind is a feature of my life. It has never bothered me as much as it has others.......... Just a breeze then. They cannot cancel one of the only 3pm kick offs we have.
