It's good to see that Tom Winter is performing really well for Leiston at the moment with 4 goals in 5 games and a few assists to his name. I really like the look of this kid and he is definately a real talent for the future. I just hope that he learns from this experience of competitive football and comes back to Town with increased desire to make the grade.

Not to take away from his clear talent and success whilst on loan, but I've played against Leiston a couple of times when I used to live locally and played in that league so the fact that he is playing a similar level to me shouldn't be overlooked..

But that said there are some talented and strong players in that league so to hold his own at his age and learn from the hustle and bustle of non league football will put him in very good stead going forward...

I often think more players should drop down on loan when young to get a better understanding of men's football as the under 18 and (to a lesser extent) under 21 leagues don't offer a true representation of the football league.

Between him and Jack Marriot we hopefully have a couple of talented strikers waiting in the wings.

    Very good to hear!

I do agree that it's much better to go out on loan for a while and learn the 'real' game rather than the youth/U21 games which are apparently more relaxed and controlled. I still think it's important for him to stay around our academy and learn from our coaches, so I wouldn't want him to go out for a season long loan or anything, but a couple of 1 month spells could do him the world of good.
