I see he has been going through a tough time of it of late since he stopped playing football. A couple of suicide attempts following on from alcoholism, depression, failed marriage and the death of his father. Strange how times change. I remember when he played for us in the 90's and he was full of himself confident and very arrogant. Once saw him in Becks bar in Aberdeen with a few of his team mates and he was an annoying over-bearing prick. Sorry to hear that he is having his problems though. He was an enigma as a player. He once got sent off three times against Dundee United in the same match. A fairly volatile character it was fair to say.
Not sure if its still the same in professional football but it is very possible to receive more than one red card in a game, just means a bigger penalty for the club.
If my memory serves right, he got sent off for a second yellow due to a bad challenge, he then swore at the ref earning him a 2nd and then he got a 3rd for pulling up the corner flag and throwing in on the ground. Things like this happen in Scotland. Hearts once had FOUR players sent off at Ibrox. One of them got sent off for kicking the goalpost in frustration. A Celtic player, Didier Agathe, once got sent off against Dundee for running too fast. That is genuinely true.
To balance it out Gascoigne got booked for jokingly showing the ref a yellow card after he'd dropped it. I wasn't suggesting any pro-Rangers or anti-Celtic bias. Those were just the two first examples that sprung to mind.
'kin 'ell, they're a bit keen up there in Scotland, aren't they i remember the Gascoigne incident though.
