Anybody else got windows 10 and encountered a series of problems? I've installed countless updates over the past 6 weeks but I've lost my apps, start button doesn't work, microsoft edge has disappeared and tonight my taskbar doesn't work and I can't access my action centre <grr>

So has anyone else had the same issues and managed to fix these issues?

    Thanks in advance

Windows 10 is very buggy there is already an upgrade to fix all the issues ( Version 1511) but the problem is that windows 10 Update falls over and is fragile itself so it's all a bit tedious, not to mention all the BSOD issues, it's why I have gone over to Apple OSX.

Anyway did you machine come with Windows 10? If so do a factory reset, then start the update process, until you finally get to the new Win 10 Upgrade that fixes all the issues. Do not install any third party programs until you have got windows 10 to the latest version, or better still go back to windows 7.

Windows 10 Version 1511 upgrade/Update came out November 2015. Check the links if you want to download an ISO version to burn to disk.

I have windows 10 on my iMac and Macbook Pro under bootcamp (Dual Boot), it has been quite a revelation as to how crap windows 10 is, windows 8.1 is far more stable, and Windows 7 is solid, any way I will wait for your reply..........<ok>

BY the way there is a fix to get your start menu back and also repair the apps store, but the whole process requires the user to have advanced knowledge of command line power tools, and even then the process does not guarantee a proper repair, you could try system restore but that falls over in windows 10 and is pretty much useless, I have been through the whole process myself as a software tester, so I am only saving you the grief and time...........<ok>

I mostly use OSX these days, and only boot into windows 10 for compatibility issues on software that cannot be found on OSX, My life is far more stress free since going over to Apple OSX......<laugh>

i downloaded W10 about 5 month ago and i had so much trouble with it that i reverted back to W7.. However i buy Web User Magazine every month and last months issue did a great article about W10 flaws, bugs whatever you want to call it and described how much W10 has improved so i have downloaded it again and its fantastic, the best browser ever and i would never go back. There are so many apps and things to do on W10 that you will never get board and if i have the odd problem W10 maintenance and fix it will solve the problem at a touch of the keyboard.....I recommend to anyone who has not downloaded W10 to do it now while it's free to do so.......

I thought this thread was going to be about 10 issues on buying new players in the transfer window. Thick or what.

Cheers Phil. I upgraded my laptop from Windows 8 so I'll check those links out.

I've upgraded my PC too, and like Dai says, there's no issue with Windows 10 on there.

Switched from Windows about ten years or so ago to Linux. Never had a problem with Linux unlike Windows, always problems with that OS. :1980_boogie_down:

:emoticon-0137-clapp Another visionary <whistle> Same here. What distro are you using? Started with Ubuntu in 2006. Switched to Arch in 2009 and been loving it ever since.

If your machine came with Windows 8 then do a factory reset and download the latest Windows 10 ISO, burn to usb or disc and do a standalone upgrade, that will save you going through all the hours of updates.........<ok>

PS make sure you download the correct version ISO, your likely to have an OEM version Windows 8, So you will need an OEM version of Windows 10, otherwise if you download a retail version, you'll end up being asked for a licence key.

It's only a matter of time before it falls over, Windows 10 is the most fragile OS of them all............<ok>

The one magor issue I have found with Windows 10 is Hardware drivers. If you get a bad driver Windows 10 Will give you all sorts of problems, bad display drivers are the worst, As I have said before you have to realise that Windows 10 can be very fragile, but only through trial and error can you establish stable drivers, when you actually achieve a good installation without third party programs I would recommend doing a full hard drive backup using a good backup program, do not use Windows backup,

Best Free Backup for windows 10:

If you want to pay then Acronis True Image 2014 or 2015..........<ok>

For those of you that have a windows bootcamp on your iMac or Macbook Pro, and want to backup your Windows partition, then you can only safely and successfully do this with OSX Winclone or Paragon Boot Camp Backup for OSX. You cannot use any windows backup from within Windows, it will destroy your OSX OS.

I have found Winclone to be the best of the two...........<ok>

I started off with Knoppix and a few others. Then I tried Suse, Mandrake, Red Hat, PCLinuxOS, Fedora, Debian, Ubuntu & had a quick look at CentOS & Zorin amongst others. Settled on Mint after Betsy.

Currently using Mint Qiana Mate. I find the debian base smoother and easier to use than some of the others. Mint is quite easy to get used to and doesn`t use UNITY, although Ubuntu are going to ditch it.
Arch can be a bit tricky to get the hang of, but works well when used to it. The advantage of Arch & a couple of others is that they are a rolling release, which has it`s advantages.

All free & works perfectly out of the box, so to speak. Loads of choice to take a dip and try:

Apple is more of a closed book than Microsoft. I see that Steve Ballmer has quit after spunking billions of dollars.
