"I'd love to go back whether that be as reserve coach or maybe striker coach," he told BBC Radio Humberside. "I've put my CV in to the football club, (but) I'm not saying I'd get the manager's job, I don't think I would," Windass added. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18005369 Hopefully he'll get a job as the striker coach... we certainly need one.
I find it interesting that he's willing to work for the Allams after how they've treated the other local legend..
At least he maybe has a chance of working at the club now , a hell of a lot more chance than when NB was manager ...
Agreed. IF,, massive IF, Billy Davies does get the managers job then to get the fans on board straight away would be greatly enhanced by appointing Deano as striker coach. Deano would be able to turn Aaron Mclean into a 20+ goals a season player. We have the correct tools at the club already but they just need to be sharpened alot more than what they have been.
Im not saying anything apart from he has a much better chance now than he ever did when NB was in charge
French - Was Deano really a better striker than Barmby? If Nick couldn't sharpen them up I'm not sure Deano will be able to!
Deano refused to take coaching job under NB , so the Allams had no choice but to sack NB opening the door to Deano coming back as player / coach / manager and Rolls Royce cleaner
Barmby was by far the better player. Deano IMO was the better finisher. The stats dont lie. I dont think that Nick had the time for one on one sessions But I do think that Deano would get the best from Aaron Mclean. I saw what Chris Chilton did for Billy Whitehurst and Deano can do the same for Mclean. Plus McLean is a far better player now than what Whitehurst was prior to Chillo's working with him. But until it happens we shall never know for sure.
Very nice spin on 'Time will Tell' Mclean will never be a 20+ goals a season man at championship level
I think if Deano could have manager his anger issues better, he could have played for England. The thing that let him down was his discipline. There, I said it.
the only way deano would turn mclean into a 20 goal champinship striker, is if he invented a machine which turned him into kevin phillips..
Lack of pace didn't help him but he's one of those players that could have just about played in any position, a bit like Gerrard but without the pace! I thought he was actually a better midfielder when he was at the club the second time (not the first or third) but once he got pushed up front and started scoring regularly that was that. I have wondered if the reason Nick insisted on playing the system that he did was because it allowed for someone to play behind the main striker, which was his best and preferred position but of course he spent most of his career at club and international level on the wing, a bit like Koren really!
