Thought I'd chuck something in for Mrs lalala as she seems to have disappeared of late. Wall to wall coverage on the box but somehow I still can't bring myself to watch any of it. More grunting from the women than in a blue movie and the blokes just smashing the ball at 900 miles an hour. Not much finesse in that really and I just can't get into it. No doubt there will be one or two surprises to come but in the end it is probably likely that it will come down to the usual suspects playing for the title and it won't include any of ours. It isn't any surprise if there is no Brit left by the end of the first week. The crowd are worse than the prawn sandwich brigade and pay a £1 for a strawberry just because it is the in thing and traditional.
Hi sensible, I have been around - just haven't been inspired enough to post anything here. You are right my thoughts have turned to Wimbledon for this fortnight - at least there are Brits still in it for now unlike the Euros which are now boring me stupid. You are partly right, some of the players' game these days is smash and hope but not all - Federer's game is a thing of beauty, when you watch him it is much like watching an artist at work. Murray's game is also interesting, yes he has a big serve too but his game is more about returning serve and some of his passing shots are a joy to witness. The womens' game has been ruined by all the screaming and grunting, the only way to watch it is with the sound off. If you can bear to listen though, listen to the worst offender - Sharapova and you will notice her roars continue from when she hits the ball to when her oponant hits it - very unsporting, I will stop short of calling it cheating but it is screaming for a purpose don't you think? Yes it is wall to wall coverage but after all it's just 2 weeks in 52 so why not, it's the greatest tennis tournament in the world and we Brits do it best like so many other things!
Glad to give you a subject to get excited about Mrs L. Sorry doesn't do it for me although I will grant you the Federra artist mantle. If tennis was more about strokes and less about pure power then it might be more interesting. Sometimes it's like a football match that only has players taking in turns to do penalties. That would be lovely to watch.....not.
Just had a curiosity moment and had a quick skeg at the Tennis BBC site. Well what do you know, Murray is the only one left again. Nadal losing seems to have raised an eyebrow or two. Is this a Spanish omen for the footy?
Not heard much on here from the Tennis brigade lately. There has been plenty of time given the rain and all. I see Murray is still clinging on then. Quarter finalist once again. Still haven't watched a ball being hit but whatever floats your boat I say.
You won't hear much from the "tennis brigade" on a football forum sensible "Clinging on"??? A 3 straight sets win is pretty decisive in my book. I suggest you stick to your football due to your better knowledge of that game.
Mrs LaLa.....Murray hanging on at present one set down and just survived a break to lead with service 4-3.....going to be hard to win this one.
"better knowledge of that game"?????? I'm a bleddy Argyle suporter. What do I know about football? I just don't like tennis much is all. There is more grunting than in a blue movie and that's just the women. I'll have a quick look to see if Murray is hanging on but that's as far as it goes.
COME ON MURRAY........... I always knew the Brit could do it...........yeh!!!! Come on you tennis people you are supposed to be keeping me up to date not the other way around. Now get the tea on Mrs lalala.
Always rated that Murray bloke plym. Where can I get a tee shirt. Can't be arsed with another site I need info on here for god sake.
Tennis you say....Might have to come down off the mountain top to watch some..(don't mention mountain goats to Plymborn)..
Yep Tennis AWAYINBC. That funny game you don't really get in Canada. You only ever had one player and we nicked him. Now Bears playing Tennis, that would be a spectator sport. If you can find a flat(ish) bit somewhere up the mountain and stick a net up you never know what you might get.
Poor Tsonga today, almost had to make the call for "new balls please" teeheehee, quite funny to hear the gentlemen commentators ooh and ahh like they could feel his pain I did feel sorry for him though - honest! ..and so to the final on Sunday. Of course Federer is the clear favourite but hopefully it will be a good match
