Out-of-favour Liverpool youngster Danny Wilson is open to spending time out on loan if it means playing regular first-team football. The 19-year-old defender notched up eight appearances for the Reds in all competitions after making his debut in the Carling Cup last September.

But action has been limited so far this term, with former Rangers man Wilson having made just one outing back in August.

Lack of game time saw the youngster dropped from the senior Scotland squad for this month's crunch Euro 2012 qualifiers and he is determined to get things back on track.

"There's nothing worse than not being able to go out on the pitch on a Saturday and play, but I need to just keep my head down and hopefully I'll either get some game time at Liverpool or get the chance to go somewhere else and try and prove myself."

Liverpool's fortunes have turned around drastically over the past 12 months and theycurrently sit fifth in the Premier League, marking them as possible contenders for a UEFA Champions League spot.

But Wilson insists they are not getting ahead of themselves, adding: "It just depends how the next couple of months go. You can be realistic, you can change your aims and where you want to be, but obviously the higher we finish the better. We want to get back in the Champions League, obviously, but first and foremost we need to make sure we're in a good position to do that."

I think it would be a good idea for the lad to go out on loan and get some games. He seems to be down the pecking order in terms of centre backs and if he were able to play every week, it would benefit Danny massively.

    Your thoughts?

It wouldn't be a bad idea, as long as it was at a reasonable standard (Sorry not the SPL). If he went to a top championship team like Jonjo Shelvey it may benefit him. Shelvey is doing well at Blackpool and is enjoying himself, so if Wilson went to someone like Middlesbrough or Southampton who are winning on a regular basis, that would give him confidence. Theres no point sending him to somewhere that isn't getting results like Blackburn as it would shatter his confidence.

Course he would. He's better than most championship defenders already.

    here's a few points/ debatable items.

    1. If this kid didn't see this issue coming when he was a first team player at rangers but was going into an ultra competitive set up.... well more fool him.

    2. this type of vocal discontent is not good. Why didn't he merely go to kenny and aks for a loan privately?

    3. was he set up by press due to having international caps but has been dropped so they've poked about for this story?

its an interesting conundrum for sure. I think kenny ought to teach him a few things about the real position he's in, how to handle the rpess then get hi out on a loan that will beenfit both parties. The thing is if he starts the whole i'm not happy routine it swos seeds or discontent.

This is why we should have a feeder club. One that is chosen on the way the club plays it's football and so that we have somewhere to send players knowing they will get experience at the right level.

    that is a point.

I mean if kenny likes roy so much wahy doesn't he "loan" a few players like wilson, aurelios and others to him.... ok ok but seriously....

I think we should just buy a struggling championship club out for about 5mil then call them liverpool b then just send guys there on loan...

the spanish have this sort of system down... so why didn' rafa ever get such a system going?

What about plugging money into AFC Liverpool to move them up the leagues and then use them for loans.
