Jack Wilshere, already capped at senior level has been named in the 40 man provisional squad for the U-21 European Championships this summer.

Wenger has already stated that he would rather Jack didn't take part in this tournament, having already played lots of football this season, he may need to rest him at a time when Arsenal are preparing for a new season.

That said, there is an argument that if Wilshere is playing competitive football through the summer, he will hit the ground running come the start of the new season.

I can't really blame Pearce for picking him because it is his job to win games and to do that you need your best players. As Wilshire is the best player in the under 21's i can fully understand why he is being called up. However it will probably mean next season he suffers loads of injury problems like what happened with Walcott. It's just one of those annoying things that you can't avoid I guess.

The Country v Club war will never go away.

The player will always want to help his country out, especially at such a young age and after a fantastic season, but the fans (who many are turning their backs against the national team) will only genuinely care about the ramifications for their club.

Put it this way, if it were you, would you want to play in the tournament? The detrimental effects it could have on your next club season would surely never enter your mind?

Wilshere is at a stage of his career where he wants to play in every game in every tournament. As Arsenal fans we can't blame him for wanting to play in the U-21 championships and to be honest, it will make the competition more exciting with Jack in it <ok> but we're still cautious like Wenger that fatigue may affect him.

It just shows the measure of what a player he has already become that has caused any concern over this issue.

I quite like watching under 21's, its interesting to see how advanced young players are compared to the rest of their age group. Plus England's under 21's actually know how to keep the ball.
