The Beeb are reporting he's out until the end of the season.

Probably more relevant to England as Wenger didn't seem to think he'd be able to play much of a part in the end of the season anyway.

Edit: Sorry just realised Lazarus already has a thread on it.

He's not injured again, but his progress is going more slowly than anticipated.

A full season out... don't want to be a pessimist but we should expect less then stellar performances from him when he comes back, if we are to learn from Ramsey and Diaby.

Need another quick/creative midfielder. Not realistic to expect an uninterrupted season from Rosicky next year. He is injury prone.

I'm beginning to be fearful of his future to be honest. I feel uncomfortable that we won't get Jack back at anything like we used to see.<wah>

We really need to make proper contingency plans for next season. Wilshere would have missed an entire season and god knows if he'll even be ready for pre-season. Frimpong is out for probably most of next season so will unlikely feature. Diaby is still injured with ???? Coqs is also injured and has no return date. So we're left with Arteta and Rosicky who have poor injury records, Song and an off-form Ramsey. Add a green 19 year old OXO and it doesn't look overly rosey. Thats why we need to get in a face or two to bolster our midfield. Had Wilshere and Frimpong been fit for this season and playing, i wouldn't have too many problems with just getting 1 person in, but now, we need to be considering two new faces....

We definitely need a replacement for one of Fabregas or Nasri - of at least the same quality.

But that standard are World-Class - and would not be available.

It depends. Goetze is rumoured to be moving this summer, he's would be just the type of player we're after. I don't think we'd get much change from £30m though

Well I hope so -but will not pretend I know enough, or have watched to have an opinion.
He just 'sounds' like we could do with him!

But then Squishy was said to be experienced and cheap - an answer to our problems. oops.

From what I've seen of Goetze, he offers a very direct and attacking approach, combined with skill, guile, speed, a low centre of gravity and an ability to go past players with ease. He's a player who makes things happen and who has a Fabregas esque eye for a defence splitting pass.

I take the point about Squillaci. It's easy to call Wenger out in hindsight for signing him, but at the time, he was playing well for Seville and looked every bit the experienced CB we needed. It hasn't reallly worked out, but I don't blame Wenger for signing him.

I do wonder how he makes his decisions. Its possible that agents and scouts present a portfolio that becomes convincing.
Players can be presented in such a way that weakness is hidden. Plus many would say the PL takes some adjustment!
I didn't recall any criticism of Squishy immediately before we signed him, I think we accepted it made sense.

i love gotze him (and recently thought about eriksen) are the only ones with the quality we need as i fear wilshere will have a bit of a rehabilitation season (and fans will get on his back). However do you honestly see us coughing enough cash to buy the player who has recently signed a new contract and will now cost in excess of £40mil...i dont see it personally though i would love to be proved wrong.

  14. Why would Wilshere need to have a rehabilitation season next year? He'll be working over the summer to get fit and and will have a full pre season. He had a stress fracture, which is now healed, however he is short of fitness. There is no reason he would need a season to find his form again. He'll be as ready to go at the start of next season as any player - unless of course he gets another injury which can happen to anyone.

i dont think he'll be himself at least for the first half of the season and it seems the way things are going its doubtful he'll have a preseason. May be wrong though but he'll have to be eased back into the side.

  16. I dont get why? Coming out of pre season his foot will be as strong as anyone else's and he'll be as fit as anyone else. His ability hasn't been lessened in any way. He's said himself that his foot is already healed. Its just fitness now.
