I don't know if any of you have heard, but apparently Willie Carson is a contestant on the show this year.

I've never realy watched it properly, though ive seen bits a pieces, when my mrs has had it on in the past, and it seems to me a show for B list celebrities with no money who are trying to get famous again.

It might be funny seeing him doing some of the challenges, and how he gets on. I can't see the British public voting for him though, as even racing followers, find him incredibly irritating.

I saw this in yesterday's Racing Post.

Everyone I have spoken to says he'll annoy the hell out of everyone, but he's used to living on small amounts of food and has no fear!

Id imagine he will PN, though maybe he will get some votes just because he is so annoying, afterall it wouldn't be worth watching if everyone got along

Having left the UK in 1994 I can only remember Willie Carson on Question of Sport in the 80s and he used to be a good laugh then. Maybe he was better suited to Bill Beaumont rather than CLaire Balding?

Haven't seen the show since Razor Ruddocks day, won't be in a rush to set the Sky+ this time and agree that Willie will annoy the hell out of everyone.
How many days BBC coverage will he miss <whistle>

Can't stand the program. Might be worth voting though, just to keep in in there.

The real shame is that i read he is 68 years old, now this show is about the lowest of the low and the term scraping the bottom does not do it justice. That Willie should feel the need to do this at the age of 68 is sad. A d list celeb who cannot do anything else and any raising of profile is seen as oxygen itself you can understand a little but Willie is a grandad and should not need become a clown for the idiot type of public that views and votes on this show.

On a racing note i feel his Grandson William is a very good and underused Jockey. I would love to see him given the second job at Hamdan Al Maktoums instead of TO'Shea. It would be great to see those great Colours with the name W.Carson next to them again. I agree that Willie is annoying and should not be let anywhere near a microphone but he was a hell of a good Jockey and never afraid to make his own gap when he had to.

I read that Willie had said he was going in for a laugh, he said he has nothing to sell/promote and is not trying to ressurect his career as he has enough to do running his stud farm and working for the Beeb.

My only hope is that someone in the jungle asks him a question about the whip and he can answer in an intelligent fashion and help to educate the general public.
