To any and all, Will we have a consistent run of games this season? I am struggling to think of the last time we had a good run of games where we either got results desired or kept clean sheets for a decent enough result. I remember a few years ago we had something like 10 clean sheets in a row and thus were on a good run of form due to our defensive qualities. My question is, do we see something like this in this current year? I must admit I am not sure we can, especially with this league and how anyone seems to be able to hold their own on the day. Imagine 10 clean sheets in a row again, that would certainly boost team morale and have us closer to our number 1 objective for the season, Champions League footy.
If we keep Agger and Carra fit at the same time we should be in a good condition to generate clean sheets - and this a good platform for getting a run going. After MU, we have a run of 3 eminently winnable league games (Norwich home, West Brom Away, Swansea Home) so we should be looking at 10 from 12 for our next 4 league games - and a Carling cup win against Stoke at their shed would be nice...
Ya, I had a look at the schedule and if we can beat United and then take care of those 3 that could very well be 5 wins and 15 points, not bad at all! Right after though we have Chelsea A and City H followed by another set of games we should really push on and win ( Fulham A, QPR H, Villa A, Wigan A, Blackburn H, Newcastle H). We do have a good chance to make two solid runs and climb up the table even more.
Thankfully, we've got a MUCH easier game in the next round than united have again................ Oh hang on.....
Who drew the balls?, A Liverpool hater and a crackhead. Now you can see why we got such a ''fantastic'' draw and Man United got such a ''difficult '' draw.
Bluff as long as you have a tournament on we can have a good run of games, if you haven't then we are ****ed. Seriously though, even if we beat Utd I can see us ****ing up at least once or twice against Norwich, WBA or Swansea. Just like we did after the Chelsea game last year.
Main reason I put this thread up, can we turn that corner and beat the best around the top but do so against the so called lesser teams? It is a very annoying trend and one that cost us the title in 09.
That is what I am hoping, the one I'm looking at is the WBA game as that is away, the other two are at home so I fully expect 6 points from them.
We used to have huge runs. I remember around 02/04 we missed out on our all time record of least goals conceded i think it was. Hypia, Henchoz and Carra. Right up untill 08/09 we had games where we just didn't lose. Last two seasons we'v been poop and that confidence/aura has gone. Will we get it this year? Maybe. I think our defence is leaky though and our centre mid without Gerrard.
