I guess he's gone back to Spurs by now. Should the new manager be interested in bringing him back or would Spurs consider loaning or selling him to us. I gues he'd cost us at least 3-4 million.
No-brainer so far as I'm concerned. We've seen he is great quality on either side, links up well with E.Bennett, would be a sound investment, adored by the fans, and seemed to enjoy playing for Norwich. McNally, make it happen.
i don't think we can afford his wages to be honest. it was intimated way back in january that it wasn't ever going to happen. we all just clung on to the hope it might.
Yup. Wouldn't even be a slight shock. They can afford/are prepared to pay his wages. Shame as I think if he came back and had a couple of decent seasons with us then we could turn a nice profit on him going somewhere better than Villa.
in my opinion he's almost good enough to play for england right now - in fact, if martin kelly gets called up i'd say he's good enough now! easily worth £6m+ now and could be worth a bomb if he reaches his potential.
I wonder if Tottenham will keep him they need cover at both right and left back and Naughton can play both well.
I think he is probably Villa bound too, wouldn't surprise me if he went to Sunderland or someone like West Ham too mind.
If Marrtin Kelly/Henderson get called up then I reckon I'm good enough to play for England let alone Naughton! If we could afford the fee and wages then he would be a brilliant investment - you don't mind paying top dollar when you have a proven player who fits in at your club and is only going to get better - as long as his wages don't end up alienating the rest of the team which is a risk.
thats the point though - his wages won't alienate the rest of the team because we can't afford to pay him what he'll want! this is another reason holt won't get what he wants in terms of a raise. wage budget is there to stop the club overspending so nobody will be signed who breaks that
I would like to see Naughton compete with Walker for the right back position at Spurs first, then he might come to us on a premanent or be loaned out to another Premier League club or a side in the Championship. I suppose it depends if the new manager would be interested in signing him or not and whether Spurs want to let him leave.
i think a loan is our best shout. he seemed to enjoy his time here. i know he spent most of his waking hours in nando's with vaughan and pilks
Given Vaughan injury record I hope Nando's had someone standing by to perform the Heimlich or made sure he always went for a boneless option.
Perhaps it would be ironic if Ch were to move for a couple of Villa players. Trouble is apart from the ones out of our price range, they haven't too much on offer, particularly at RB. Hutton has not gone on from a promising start at Rangers and I'm sure Naughton will be an early target for Lambert.
Hasn't Vedran Corluka left Spurs now though? Therefore I can see Naughton staying put at the Lane as he does a good job on both the left and right.
alan hutton is one of the worst full backs in the premier league, probably the whole country actually!
