Wednesday night was a very sad, very bad, night for the city of Manchester. Two of the biggest, free spending clubs in the whole World and neither could reach the last 16 in the Champions League. Conmen from all over the world threw their ill-gotten money into Manchester teams, confident of not only successfully laundering their money but also getting the satisfaction of at least European domination. The Utd team were over complacent, as last season they were able to field their weakest possible teams against Glasgow Rangers and still attain 4 pts out of 6. They thought it was only a matter of turning up against Basle and success was theirs. Sure Celtic only fell narrowly to Basle a few years ago and the Scottish Press went into outrage over Celtic's ineptness. Anyway that is that, If Celtic can win next Thursday night in Italy, and of course it is a big IF. It won't be easy but if we can then we might, somewhere along the line be drawn against United in the knock out stages. Now old Fergie says he will play young goats (or is it kids) against every other team but Celtic. Remember his young goats against the Rangers. No, Fergie says full team against Celtic. A full Utd team like the last times we played them will be tough, we may or may not get through, who knows. The one thing I know is that, win, lose or draw, view the match in the stadium or on big screens. Even if the screen breaks, no wee police woman will be injured. No other police men injured either. No buildings in Manchester will be damaged. Celtic fans, will do what Celtic fans do, they will drink, they will sing, everyone will have a good time, we will try to change the terrible image and shame brought by Rangers fans in 2008. We won't stand idly by and let Chelsea supporters destroy the Scottish image.
I am still of the opinion that we do not deserve to be there So I don't care about the Europa League Wake me up if we reach the semis
Mr. T. I don't understand your comment, I suppose you don't either. Mind the Step. I have no doubt we deserve to be in the UEFA Cup. Unlike Scottish competitions were Rangers can break rules in whatever way they wish, in UEFA the rules have to be maintained. I am not very concerned how far Celtic progress, but at the same time I am looking forward to them playing a top team like on next Thursday night. As I have said, a game once again against Fergie's best players will breathe new life into football on both sides of the border. This would be at a level Rangers have not reached for decades despite their eminent bankruptcy.
We had a 3-1 lead going into the tie I was quite pissed off about it too, but It gave us the UEFA cup run so I forgave them. I would love to get a result on Thursday it would be a massive shot in the arm but it's a big ask and unlikely. Although come Thursday reason will disappear and I will convince myself its going to happen.
Thursday, monacoger, when the old boy was still tetchy. If you don't believe me ask him yourself, one old hun to another old hun.
