Simple question. Will we be relegated? A lot of optimists have now conceded defeat in this relegation battle, lets gauge what everybodies views are going into the festive program.
As a Toon fan, I really think you won't. You have too many good players (plus a couple of ****e ones, but then who doesn't?), and more importantly a chairman/owner willing to back his manager come January. Palace are not Prem quality, Fulham need to sort themselves out quickly or it'll just be more embarrassing for them. West Ham can't score, and have placed all their eggs in one basket (which incidentally looks a lot like a woman crossed with a horse...), Norwich look to have been found out, Cardiff are yet to convince people. So really I think you have a goodchance
As it stands at the moment we are certs for the drop. With the best will in the world we now appear to have neither the manager or players who can inspire any revival. My concern about yesterday was the way the players were giving each other hard looks when passes went astray/misdirected. Admittedly only watched on TV but we are desperate for a given leader.
No we won't. I didn't expect anything from Chelsea and the Spurs games, secretly hoped we would get a point of the spuds but it didn't happen. We have some very winnable games coming up over the crimbo/January period which should see us close the gap and even get out of the bottom 3. Also there are a lot of really **** eams down there with us, we just need to be better than them and i genuinely think we are.
we had a **** team though mate. we have a much better team now. we can't do anything about other team's results but have hope and faith that this will not continue forever. a few others mentioned we played the wrong format yesterday, which we did as a result of going for it. But I hope that at least Gus saw the benefit of having Catts at the back and Ki further upfield. As Bri keeps banging on, we need to deploy 5 across the middle with Catts protecting the back and Ki further upfield. Jozy as target man, then any 3 from Colback, Giacc, Borini, Larsson and Johnson to make up the midfield 5. Fletch needs more time to get his fitness up to speed. back 4 needs to reform, as they've gotten sloppy the last 2 matches. Looking forward to Hammers away next Saturday....
Of course we're in a ****e position, and deserve to be, but ever the optimist I voted "no". Gus has not let the players heads' drop, and we have those winnable home games coming up.
The main problem seems to be refereeing decisions going against us every single game, with yet another stonewall penalty denied us. But it's not just the major decisions, it's also the little decisions which we are not getting, and in my opinion this can not be put down to basic errors by the officials.. having said that, I still think we will be ok this season..
i think there are easily 3 worse teams than us! But we seem to have the hex hovering over us, even more so than usual! we have winnable home games! but will they be so winnable when we are so desperate to win them!? the pressure will certainly be on! this was my fear when the fixture list came out and my fears were founded! the fixture list was a ****ing disgrace and should have been challenged or at least the club should have officially complained or raised their concerns! totally unfair and will probably contribute to our relegation this season (alongside other things obviously)
I voted no. If we fail to beat West Ham or Norwich then that might change. Its all about those home games. We've been poor at times but most teams had they had our home fixtures and ref decisions would be bottom.
this! if our luck had balanced out even we still may be in the bottom 3, as many predicted, but not rock bottom! with our run of home games, we would be one of the favourites to drag ourselves out of it! we have been well and truly screwed by ****e refereeing! 2 wins in our home games so far???? I would have settled for that! Its been our woeful away performances which have let us down!
Until it's mathmatically impossible to stay up I am in the we will survive bracket but if you probe just a little bit under the surface of my boldness, I am preparing for life outside the top division next season. The next 7 or 8 games upto January will determine how far you have to scratch. I said when he was appointed that we need 17 points on January 1st. If we manage that, we will stay up.
