Today I read in a newspaper that DM says we have posted two offers for players and we are interested in several more, however, negotiations take time. From what I can gather reading between the lines it would appear that we will be starting the season well below par for a strong squad. This seems to be the norm for SAFC. Yes, we have had the problem with SA and the FA but surely we had identified several positions that needed strengthening and had candidates to fill these. Why then is it taking so long to bring in new faces. Feel that this is going to be the same old SAFC playing once again catch up on points needed to avoid relegation . Can someone please tell me what is the difference with our transfer system and the rest of the teams in the EPL.
We only ever look at the clubs, like Man Utd, signing players and ignore the likes of Hull etc who are doing nowt. Our side is decent and doesn't need many additions ......... Moyes will sort it and all this speculation will have been futile
Genuinely think that this time around it has purely been out the weeks of speculation and then losing Big Sam and bringing a new manager in
To a degree but let's not get carried away with the idea that we're on our arses .......... Short will sanction purchases as he's done before.
We are no different to any other club, transfers are so complicated nowadays, unless daft money is involved.
I would live to agree with you but I'm not sure that Moyes will have same effect on the buys of BSA as he had - feel Moyes has too much to do - we need strengthening badly - we are significantly depleted from last seasons over performing team - quality players needed - Kone to Everton deal will soon be done imo - but I'm still positive underneath these concerns
Hull are an exceptionally bad case. Other than that West Brom and Burnley are the only other teams who have been quiet and Brom seem like they're getting Sakho now. There's time to rectify the situation and no panic for weeks yet but the frustration is that players coming in now will have pretty much missed pre-season and the last week of trading often feels a bit of a desperate gamble. There are benefits to getting them in sooner.
I'm confident that ES & DM will get players in, it's the August curse yet again tho isn't it... We need players firing on all cylinders at the start of the season, not 5 or 6 games into it. This previously has put pressure on us at the end of the window as we desperately try to tempt players to come to a team destined for yet another relegation battle and also clubs then know we are desperate and 'screw' us for more cash ! A good start is beneficial for so many different reasons.
Borini hanging on at Liverpool until he was told he had no future. M'Villa is a who knows situation, visa, transfer fee, or just plain it is nearly done.
Even Hull have made signings and look at the mess they are in. So why do we have the excuse of the manager change; surely we could have brought back M'Villa nad DeYedlin. Apart from Everton and WBA who have only signed 1 player each but have a stronger baseline than us. All the other teams have been fairly active.
