With JW playing for the Republic in 2 games (including the spanking by Germany) do you think TP will rest him against Manure? After all, playing twice in a matter of days for Ireland, he will surely be tired and so it would be a good reason to leave him out and perhaps give Jerome, or Owen for that matter, a runout on Saturday. Any thoughts?
I don't think he will, he will see it as he needs someone who will put in a lot of work which you can guarantee from Walters. He should be rotated more to give other players at least the chance to impress or at least f*ck up by their own merit, but "that man" likes the "aarrdd work" ethic that Walters brings to the team and that other players have brought before him, regardless of their skill or lack of it.
Did'nt Jerome play some part at OT last season? If I remember he did quite well and was subbed. Might be wrong on that though... Re Walters.. I would play Jerome/Crouch and Etherington and give Jon a rest. But T.P. won't leave JW out will he...
Would you believe it!... Republic have put 4 past the Faroh Islands and Wilson and Walters have netted. Neither are able to score for Stoke. Still with that goal Walters is a certain starter for Saturday.
The only issue with him being rotated (which I think he shoud be) I it will give TP the excuse to say I gave such and such a run but they didn't do anything of note (At OT) so Walters is playing the nest 953 gmes and Owen and Jerome re cleaning his boots.
Well he did and he neither looked like scoring or a winger, so his goal stats are even worse now! Overall a pretty good performance but we still lack clinical finishing.
Smither's From what my pals told me and of course MOTD I thought we did OK today.. as you say we did'nt take the chance's by all accounts we could have scored a couple more before half time.. but hey, it's UTD away and I can't remember the last time we put 2 in at OT... good signs? I think maybe after next weekend we'll know mate.
Caught an odd few minutes of the game here and there, not watched MOTD yet, but by the looks through some of the stats (conceding a minute before, and a minute after half time), looks like we ****ed things up by switching off at the vital moment (again). Still, as Potts said, good to get 2 goals at OT, even if Rooney scores one of them for us!
It appears then that we did quite wellat OT particularly in the first half. It would have been interesting to see what the outcome would have been if the shot from Charlie Adam had not been scrambled away by their keeper and we had gone 2-0 up. I only saw the game on MOTD but we did appear to defend poorly and left players unmarked for their first 3 goals. And to concede a minute before and a minute after half-time is disappointing but we did score twice ourselves and how many times have we scored two at OT? We did in the early 60's when we lost 5-2 (Denis Law scoring 4 before starting a lengthy ban). I also saw them when we last won on their patch in 1976.
