1goal and 3 assists! Great determination for his goal, carried his momentum forward and finished, fantastic. I can forgive him the howler of a back pass, something anyone can do. I'm less forgiving of the ball forward for Moses to intercept, he was very naive and you could see it coming from the way he was playing other balls. He also started to be rash with his challenges, both me and my brother thought he ought to have been subbed. How wrong we were, fantastic call from Mr Laudrup! Jonjo upped his game, the knock down for Michu was magical and he grew in stature. I am sure he will learn from this game and this will be the catalyst for him togo on to be a great player for us, I think this game will be the making of him. Common you Swans!
Jonjo certainly makes a game interesting to watch, you got to give him that. As Laudrup said in the interview, the lad is young and will mature from such experiences .... I hope thats true.
Agree he was totally distraught after the match but Laudrup handled the situation brilliantly and if you notice in the second half, no hollywoods from John Jo just good accurate short passing. He'll have learnt a lot from tonight .
Laudrup was interviewed for Danish tv; answering the question: why Shelvey wasn't subbed --> this is only one game in a long season ahead, ML considers this a part of the maturing proces of Shelvey. Why sub him and create problems within the squad, when there are 7 games in 20 days ahead. Quite frankly everybody is happy with the Draw in retrospective ( even predicted it in our own League on 606 (1-1 though). Shelvey will be a fantastic player for Swansea when he matures, and this game was a big step in that direction. As evidence of this, chek out the look on Michus face whes he scored!
I thought Jon jo showed massive bollocks in the second half of that game! I was devasted for him to be honest, in the interview after the game he was close to tears and was brutally honest with himself, saying his terrible mistakes cost the club and he said that he had to apologise to the Swansea fans for his mistakes, I thought his interview showed him to be a humble young man who was very upset because he felt he caused his team defeat, I thought that in the second half he proved he can be a great player, he still needs to work on stuff but it was nice to see his will to win and his bottle to get on the ball and try and pass it. Ive seen bigger players buckle under pressure like that so it can only improve him. Michu's goal celebration was the shelvey "glasses" which he did for him and gave him a big hug,a fantastic touch by michu there. Overall it was a game we could have won but mistakes cost us yet again, shelvey has cost us 3 goals in 2 games and that must stop, I think he will learn from this though. I was very proud of the team today, I was unsure how we were gonna do but after watching that I think we have got stronger and can impose our game on pretty much anyone. We all would have loved a point from this before hand so we all have to be happy.
Also want to give credit to Ash, after the initial howler, Ash tends to be someone who shouts, but he knew that an arm around JJ's shoulder was what was needed, just a shame it didn't quite work and it happened again lol. Along with Michu's celebration, thought they were both nice touches. When players and managers know he is still young, and do what they can to try and give him that little lift, you know they see something special.
Yep he was gutted, by he had strength of character to bounce back and put in a great second half display. This will be the making of him.
Fit him with an electrical shock collar. Every time he gives the ball away with a suicidally stupid pass/lunges in with a late tackle Laudrup can press a big red button and put 400 volts through him. Might go some way towards making him useful.
Yes , and if it doesn't then he'll never learn and we're left with a dud, the boy showed character tonight which was developing into a nightmare for him .Mistakes are part and parcel of the game and there were plenty others out there tonight from more experienced players but his directly led to their goals .The built up for this game was about two things Jon Jo and how much would Liverpool put past us .The pressure was on him to prove a point and after a dream start the basics were forgotten , you're the most vulnerable after scoring .The manager showed faith in him in fairness and that wasn't misplaced .Yes he'll learn and more importantly won't forget .
Jonjo was man of the match for Swansea......and Liverpool! Laudrup did the right thing leaving him on, taking him off would have seriously damaged his confidence - great man management by Laudrup allowing him to make up for his mistakes, which he did with a brilliant headed assist for Michu. Laudrup showed great faith in a young player and the confidence shown will have meant the world to Shelvey. After a scrappy and bad tempered opening to the second half, the team clicked and showed glimpses of how good they can be - Liverpool looked terrified after we equalised and we threatened to tear them apart at times. Was talking to a few Liverpool fans on the way out and their overriding emotion was one of relief!
