Pitch invasion when we survived against Sheffield United, pitch invasion when we were relegated against Burnley?

Any chance of one this season if we end up celebrating promotion?

    Hope so ;)

As much as we all would like it ... I cant see it happening.

I expect the players will do a lap of honour with their families to thanks the fans instead.

They are naff, even more so when the wannabees go over to the away fans. That Burnley game was embarrassing. Three Burnley fans ran to the front and about 200 Saints "lads" ran in the opposite direction.

Agree, they are just embarrassing, look at the QPR fans last week. A recent and pretty awful one I remember was Leeds v Ipswich - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6Mp4fls9oc. The problem being that if a group of 20 or so decide to run on then the floodgates open and there's not much the stewards/police can do.

I reckon there will be. We have had pitch invasions the last 3 seasons on the last game (Although there were only a few for the Southend game last season).

Usually they will not let the players do a lap of honor until the pitch is cleared. So really there isn't much point.
It was the same at the Dell they do not want you on the pitch churning it up. It has just got up to standard the pitch at St Marys so we do not want everyones clodd hoppers on it do we..........

I thought the Sheff Utd pitch invasion was brilliant, come on you have to admit that?

Burnley one was purely out of frustration and people just looking for a fight.

I should imagine the one on the last game against Walsall will be celebratory and peaceful towards them as no offence to Walsall, but most of our fans will be dancing in the middle of the pitch instead instead caring about confronting them. Sheffield United fans were very gracious after that victory over them and applauded most of us from memory.

I won't be getting anywhere near the pitch this year! Made a quick dash from Itchen to Kingsland last year after the Southend game which got me a 10 match ban (not that I adhered to it of course ;) )

I reckon there will be one, if the match is the decider. But that will mean the players cant do a lap of honour unless everyone goes back to their seats.

As much as a party pooper I might sound, I'd much rather see a lap of honour and appreciate the players and staff than watch wobbling wannabees run across the pitch.

I love seeing the players going round the pitch. That's the proper way to celebrate victory. If you stave off relegation, understandably passions run higher and a pitch invasion is more apt.

I may be a minority, but I dont want it at all. It prevents the players coming out for a lap of honour, and it also opens my club up to fines or other trouble. What if someone get seriously injured? Just my opinion, but those who rush on, well let's just say it's more about them than the club.

You will find the club will issue a statement to the fact that anyone caught on the pitch will be banned. Ask others that did that last year. Also they will not allow the players onto the pitch until it is cleared. Personally I would much rather have the players on the pitch doing a lap of honour rather than seeing a lot of tottering fans. Those that invaded the pitch last year were they not booed by the main crowd?

Haha, I was one of those 200 or so. I was paying no attention to the Burnley fans though. I just ran because I saw a load of Saints fans stampeding towards me and had no idea why. I'm sure that was the case for most people, rather than them being scared of a few Burnley fans.

Pitch invasions are (usually) pretty harmless and a lot of fun, so I don't think there's anything wrong with them as long as they're only reserved for special occasions.

This sounds about right, as I remember trying to walk across the pitch from kingsland to itchen and rushing back when I saw a load of saints fans running towards me, had no idea why at the time.

I am craving a pitch invasion for the last day, and why not? Its a harmless bit of fun and I think we'll deserve it. You might be worried about not getting a lap of honour but hello sheffield united 2008? They came back out, we stood at the edge of the pitch, we cheered, we celebrated, everyone was happy. Cant see why this wouldnt work again. Besides if we leave it until the last game of the season to guarantee promotion there is no way in hell there won't be a pitch invasion. It is simply unavoidable.

Really can't see the point in them to be honest.

I don't think I'll bother, I'll be thinking about a first celebratory pint.

    I hope there is. ;)

    Here's hoping!

I think if it is done on the last day there will be one but if we are promoted at either Brentford or Plymouth there won't be one and it will just be celebrations <cheers>
