http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24964281 I haven't got a problem with the FA decision - to counteract an abuse of the system and allow players not to be suspended for 'more important' league matches - but will the FA be as brave with ALL forms of 'cheating' by Premier League players ? Another form of 'cheating' / disrespect is when England players 'suddenly' have an injury - such as a 'slight strain' (undetectable) ahead of an international friendly - because the parent club didn't want their player involved - and then the player makes a miraculous recovery to play a league game a couple of days later. I've always thought that the decision to play for your country should solely be that of the player - if lucky enough to be selected. although it might have been better for those involved in the defeat to Chile not to have been selected.
David Beckham did the same thing for England a few years ago. He was one card away from a suspension, got injured I think & before he was subbed picked up a silly yellow card before going off so missing the next game a few days later. I can't remember but doubt anything happened to him back then.
