We keep hearing what a "great job" Rafa is doing at Chelsea and how "grateful" we should be he's our manager. The media seem to rate him so they should be pushing for him to get the post at United. Match made in heaven right? Oh wait... they won't do that will they? Deep down they know he isn't a top manager and would take Man U down the table which they wouldn't want, but they'd be happy to slip down the table.

Why ever not Dave? You can see the sort of manager he is by getting us to a European final. He might even get another three years out of Scholes with his rotation skills.

  4. SAF is due to announce his immediate retirement, this Sunday, so the papers are reporting. If that is true, then the timing can only be aimed at derailing Mourhino's return to Chelsea. I rather fear that Coco is going to be staying at CFC for some time.

I've always thought Jose will go to Man U, even when he still had a job with us.

He can't. The only thing consistent about HIAG is the amount of ****e that pours from him.

Jose is very much a family man and his Mrs just loves shopping in the Kings Rd! He has been house hunting in West London! My bets on a Chelsea return! United will settle for a former Manc! Mark Hughes???

I get your point DL but Rafa wont end up at United due to the rivalry with Liverpool, that rant etc regardless of his ability.

I still don't believe that Fergie is stepping down and a lot of the media are going to be doing some serious back tracking tomorrow. however...if true it is worrying for us. I think the United job is the only one in England Jose would pick over us. Though I'm not 100% certain United would offer it to him. If they want to replicate what Fergie has done, Moyes is the obvious choice for me. Similar type of manager, good with youth, not a P.R disaster waiting to happen like Jose, loyalty etc. Moyes is unproven at the very top level but then so was Fergie.

If Fergie leaves though, whoever comes in will struggle to maintain the consistency he has for so long; which can only be good news for the rest of us. Weird to think the current top 3 could all have new managers come the start of next season....

Well there goes my opinion, he's gone at the end of the season.

Moyes is favourite but worried about Jose now.

  15. And so you should be.

Let's face it, the gutter press, not for the first time, got it completely wrong. They hear, quite rightly, that Mourhino is due to return to English football, and they immediately assume that he'll be returning to CFC, but now that it's clear that SAF will be announcing his retirement (effective almost immediately), it becomes stunningly clear that Mourhino is coming to the UK to take over United. Or do you really believe that United would be accepting Fergie's resignation without having planned his replacement for months?

How are you guys going to feel about that? Will you boo him?

I know we all like to think that football people (players, managers, ball-boys, etc) have loyalty only for our own clubs, but that is an unrealistic and untenable opinion to adopt; they are all of them in it for the money and for the glory.

I did try to tell you all that The Special One would not be returning to CFC, but you didn't listen - you didn't want to listen. Perhaps, now, you'll show me just a little bit of respect.

  16. I'm not wumming. I told you weeks ago that Mourhino wouldn't be returning to the UK to join CFC.

Also, what's inconsistent with anything I have said about Coco? I've always said you should keep hold of him, as he's perfect for your set-up (as he has adequately proven). The only point I'm making now is that, with Mourhino certain to take the vacant United job, there is no longer any reason for Coco to leave CFC.

    An apology would be nice.

If in your cretinous little world it's certain that Mourinho will not be the next Chelsea boss, walk the walk and put your house on it. Go on do it, and prove you're not a WUM. If not, kindly p**s off

    HIAG,

First things first, nothing is done yet. United may have been planning for life without Fergie, perhaps why Moyes has been so coy regarding his contract situation? As for not letting Fergie leave, frankly nothing to do with United. He's on a rolling contract and can leave regardless of United's opinion on the matter.

Personally I think Jose is still coming to us but wouldn't be suprised either way now. If I had the choice I'd probably go to United as well (taking away my own club bias).

No-one could have known Fergie was going to retire and if Jose ends up at United as a result, you would have pulled of the luckiest WUMMING in not606 history!! Presumably though if Jose returns to CFC you will be first on here posting a new thread to admit you was wrong, no??

You also said we'd get battered by Basle!!

As for Rafa, he's doing OK but it really comes down to where we finish and whether he wins the EL. The only reason he is being tollerated is cos he has already said he is leaving. He can't stay given the relationship with the fans, it's just not feasible - though I accept we could do worse. You may have taken on George Graham but not all clubs are as ridiculous as Spurs!!

  20. Where's the luck? United have been openly grooming Mourhino as Fergie's replacement for several years!

As for Fergie's unexpected retirement... the only thing unexpected about it is that its announcement has come so suddenly. Surely, no one can be surprised that he's retiring per se (at the age of 71, for christ sake)?

As I said on the Spurs board, the gutter press got half the story right, that Mourhino is coming back to English football in the Summer, but as none of us knew (they included) that United had planned Fergie's retirement this Summer, all of them jumped to the conclusion that he must be returning to United.

Are you really trying to tell me that "Mourhino to return to English football" and "Fergie to retire this Summer" are completely and utterly unrelated, when even Fergie himself has made noises in the past about The Special One taking over at United?

    Yes, I would.

Similarly, when I am proved right, will you put peer pressure on those who are more interested in insulting me and my intelligence than in debating this issue in a grown-up fashion to come forward with apologies to me?
