Billy McKinlay is to join Northern Ireland replicating Kit in his role at Wales. First up we should be flattered that two of ours should be so highly thought of. Both, it is understood, will be part time and will still have a role at FFC so we haven't lost their input. And this latest announcement may also add some credibility in Ray Lew taking over the Reserves. But it inevitably leaves gaps and questions. The title is tongue in cheek but Jol is beginning to look a bit lonely. And, while I remain upbeat, this season is beginning to have the ominous appearance of Buckingham's first year in charge.
I think the higher level experience for both Kit and Billy could actually prove beneficial to FFC. Who is to say that they both won't come back to FFC better coaches? I can't see us losing either of them to be honest. Coaches who work with the under 18's and reserve teams get noticed a lot more than assistant managers of national teams.
I think Billy and Kit had to leave to make room for Dick and Cock. Would have been a tight fit otherwise.
