He got in one little fight and his Mom got scared.

What a bizarre situation. He's laughing, then he's up and at 'em, then laughing on the way back, then shouting and swearing.

If Chris Rock said something like 'Well, looks like I'm gonna have to move away from Bel Air' whilst rubbing his face the place would have collapsed.

I like both Will Smith and Chris Rock.

    Occasionally comedians overstep the mark...

Will Smith's wife has an illness, good on him for smacking him...

    Put up job?

Will Smith made himself look a right dick there. He was laughing, then decided he'd get up and slap Chris Rock.
As for the joke, it's the job of the host to make edgy jokes that are borderline offensive - Ricky Gervais has made a career out of it

Don't get me started on Smith's staged tearful apology. Embarrassing

Chris Rock's joke wasnt even offensive, maybe except for the fact it wasnt funny. You could argue his joke was making fun of her hair style and not the alopecia itself. But if Will Smith over the past few years has watched his wife suffer from the trials and torments of alopecia, possibly going hand in hand with depression and/or anxiety, and if that evening he had been suffering from a particularly volatile pile, I could understand him seeing red. Still shouldnt have done it though.

Was my first thought as well.

If someones slagging off your missus do you slap him like Will smith did or do you sit the ****er on his ass?

Why fake it though? Nobody involved comes up smelling of roses.

I would have had more respect for him if he'd punched him, I expect I'll go to my grave having never slapped another man. Weird.

I don't believe it was staged in any way, it was too embarrassing for Smith. I guess he's sick of everyone taking the piss out of how his wife sleeps around (so does he presumably) and he lost his ****.

One way of reinvigorating a awards ceremony that's declining in popularity :emoticon-0105-wink:

Yeah don’t get it, he’s a very good actor and that’s all it was imo.

I think the tears were fake. The rest of it was embarrassingly real

  16. A couple of people whose wealth and status in a fickle world results in them having their heads up their own arse.
Rock earns no respect in trying to make a joke of someone else's situation....shame on him!
Smith earns no respect.....he should have decked him with a proper punch and left the building. Hanging around to collect his reward and producing tears for sympathy...what's that about!
The pair of them should have tried something like that in The Masons Arms in Consett or The Back of the Shaft in Leadgate when I was a lad.......they wouldn't have known they were born! <laugh>

Embarrassing from smith there, live on tele and kids watching and thinking it's OK to slap other people around the face without some kind of charges. Should be done for assault and in the nick instead of dancing and prancing around at the after show party as if nothing happened

It's strange, looks fake. But only way that could work is if they did it then laughed and joked and made it obvious it was fake.

The slap is the bit that doesn't look real and I think Chris Rocks reaction is too calm. Is there no security at these events either?

If it is real it is more off the back of everyone being aware that his wife puts it about and he has had the piss took out of him ever since, than the actual joke and his wife having any condition! Well it is about her condition but not the hair one :emoticon-0140-rofl:

Someone once said "theres no such thing as bad publicity" he should have added especially when its free and talked about. These award shows are pure pantomime from start to finish, bit like international football "friendlies".

Well done Will Smith. He has went right up in my estimation. Some comedians believe there are no borders. I disagree.
