    According to the telegraph: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...stle-United-job-if-Alan-Pardew-is-sacked.html

Ashley is to have a second meeting with Pardew, about the current drop in form. A meeting they apparently also had, at the end of last season. (I was unaware they ever even had this meeting.) and people are speaking like Pardew is really set to be sacked by the club.

Personally, I can't see this whatsoever, from every single account Pardew and Ashley are friends. And by all other accounts, Ashley care's nothing for the club and is looking to sell. So why on earth, do they wish to sack Alan Pardew? For the sake of making the club look more purchasable? Is that why a name like Moyes is bouncing around? Because overall, Moyes is still respected, people are taking the piss out of him like, but for a long time Everton where ****e, and he kept them not only afloat but also competitive. Would a name like that as manager encourage a buyer?

Any thought's? Because this seems a sudden shift of opinions from a few weeks ago where Pardew seemed set to stay our manager for the foreseeable future. And once again, I can't see how results have REALLY affected anything, due to the aforementioned, lack of ambition and care.

Edit: My personal opinion just to clarify is not that Pardew should remain our manager, personally I would have sacked him January last season, when we survived relegation by a few measly points.

I don't think so. I can see him still being here. As you say, MA just seems to be happy as things are.

I'm sure that Premier League football managers must have meetings with the chairman as part if business as usual. It's just that the papers always make them out to be 'crisis talks' in this kind of situation, just so they can get a headline and print a 'story'.

I honestly have no idea on this at all. Like anything that sits within Mike Ashley's lead-lined bonce, nor does anyone else. A few possible scenarios come to the fore:

    - Pardew finishes 11th, a miserable season winds down yet he still keeps his job; at this point in time, we must now question fully exactly how that would be possible, as it can no longer be for the good of stability that he would be kept on. Conspiracy season ahoy.
    - Pardew finishes 11th and he is, in fact, sacked as a MA contract is a very corporate-looking one (i.e. not fit for purpose in Football-land) which meant his minimum 'target' wasn't met, so he's done. Logical and reasonable, though I don't think corporate rules apply to football any more than "Key Performance Indicators" should be used in the NHS.
    - We finish 10th by some miracle and Pardew is retained, for the same reason as to why he would have been sacked. This, for me, is the nightmare scenario as it pretty much highlights that Ashley is running the club purely like he would a SD shop. Something many of us fear to be the case, but still retain that glimmer of hope that he's just not that idiotic.
    - He's already on borrowed time and it's just the timing of the disgraceful capitulation that keeps him employed. Ashley has already signed his P45, but there's little point in bringing in anyone, with this squad, with a trip to Anfield looming - why let any manager start his career with the ignominy of a thrashing.

Think that's all scenarios? Anymore for anymore?

I don't want him as a manager but I do not think he will be sacked. Mike gets what he wants with Pards in charge. Mid table finishes without spending any money. He is a person he knows the fans don't like too, so he takes someone of the heat of himself. I'm not sure Ashley cares enough to sack Pardew.

Maybe Pardew has compromising photos of MA that he uses as blackmail to keep his job?

Don't think Pardew would care if he was sacked either way!

The media will have an orgy over him, and he'll be back in a job within months.

This is true, outside of Newcastle he is viewed as having done a terrific job under very difficult circumstances. His time here has rebuilt his reputation. At least it had until he stuck the nut on Meyler. Its funny because that was the polar opposite. Many of those Newcastle fans who dislike him for his management of the team/interviews etc actually felt that situ was blown out of proportion. The media wanted a crucifixtion.

You view things differently in the eye of the storm

If consecutive derby defeats in the form of thrashing's, club record poor form, assaulting fellow professionals, destroying the careers of internationals, complete absence of credible tactics won't get you sacked then there isn't anything that would get you sacked I'm afraid.

Very much reminds me of Mark Hughes, who from this point on, like Pardew will be seen as a manager who "in the right conditions" can do a good job.

The kind of manager who always gets a job when out of work.

The leech will still be stealing a living come next season. Of that I am certain.

As I have said before, the only way Ashley will sack Pardew is if it looks like we will get relegated.

If he keeps the team in mid-table then Ashley is perfectly happy.

We will probably lose every remaining game this season and it will not affect Ashley one bit. The club is safe this season and that is the bottom line with this regime <ok>

EDIT: As for the Telegraph report, I stopped reading after "Sources close to Ashley..." The only sources near him are HP & Ketchup!

TBH I'm no huge form of DM style or personality but he'd be the first to sort out the discipline of our team for the first time in years. We'd start to see some running and graft back in the team regardless of who is playing. But I don't see DM joining such an amateur setup as we have.

This worries me as it what was said about Souness when he came in.

I'd rather we just went and got a good up and coming manager with a bit of fire. Martinez, Rodgers, Poyet etc. Someone of that ilk. I don't want a manager to simply come and give us some discipline, I want to be greedy and want the whole package.

No he won't be sacked. DM would be a decent manager but I want someone who brings exciting football back to the club.

If Pardew was going to get the boot he would surely have done so after butting David Meyler. That was Ashley's opportunity if he was looking for one but I think he is happy to stick with AP

Nah, it's just another hour I'm going to spend endlessly refreshing twitter, then up first thing to check the BBC website, then around 10am tomorrow it'll dawn on me that somehow he's still there, Ashley couldn't give a fck and I'm going to have to do it all over again, but with Cardiff as the winners.

Only next season's inevitable relegation will result in his sacking.

He won't be sacked as said previously, this would not be financially as sweet for MA.

However if we are this bad now and won't splash cash in the summer I feel that we are going to be in a relegation battle next season.

Apart from players we desperately need, the ones that are here must be totally demoralised no matter what pay packet they receive. Being employed by a club (owner) that has no aspirations other than survival would make you want to leave.

Ashley won't sack Pardew, unfortunately, but use him to bait the Geordie fans until Rangers becomes his club. If Pardew had been at any other club he would have been long gone and I don't know how he can look himself in the mirror and say " I'm doing OK, it's not my fault we're utter rubbish."

Next season will be worse because Pardew won't be able to rely on his November purple patch and bottom 3 is a real possibility.
