We have the players to try this and away from home is an ideal place to start as the pressure to take the initiative is off and it is a defensive, counter attacking formation: ..............................Gulasci/Basso Rosenior.............Chester............Hobbs............Dudgeon ...........................Evans..........McKenna Stewart..........................Koren..........................Brady .....................................Fryatt Also Nick needs to keep a very close eye on Fryatt and Hobbs!! Given the situation, although I think the above formation would be highly productive, Nick will probably play it safe with a tried and trusted approach with a 4-4-2. Gulasci/Basso Rosenior Chester Hobbs Dudgeon Brady Evans McKenna Koren Fryatt McLean with Stewart coming on in the second half for either Fryatt or McKenna.
If you mean for Lester then i really dont get it. Lets face facts - neither would get in their team. The only players NP will be after are Cam and possibly Rosie.
I may be wrong but I think S.T. is referring to their commitment, rather than looking to head back to Lesta, being NP blue eyed boys.
Correct JA. They are definitely NP boys and are more likely to be adversely affected by his leaving than anyone else. I must say I was reassured by Pappa Assem's quotes in the Fail today, however I would much rather have had a Non-return clause written into Judas' exit agreement. If he comes back for Rosenior, Chester or Stewart he might well be rebuffed by Pappa, but how will the offer of a hike in salary affect the our youngster's committment??
If they don't play well, they're unlikely to be wanted anywhere else. Footballs a results business. Personally I think Nick will play what he thinks is the best formation on Saturday, based on knowing the abilities of the players, the strengths/weaknesses of Derby, and what he thinks will work for us. I also have no doubt this board will be full of people who know better.
I think that the 4-2-3-1 formation suggested looks quite good but as madhog says Nick knows best and he's the manager so it's a wait and see game. It will be interesting to see who he plays, how they play and the individual performances as that will give us an indication of their commitment to Nick and the club.
Personally don't think we have the striker for 4231 although the rest of the team is perfect for it. Think for 4231 to work you need your striker to be quick, skilful, strong and good in the air, and we don't have that type of man. I would also put Cairney in place of Evans to distribute the ball from the back and Stewart and Brady on opposite wings to cut inside. Anyway it will be the 442 were used to in Saturday I reckon, I just hope Koren can find a way of playing Central which I doubt will happen.
Agree we may have the players to possibly play 4-3-2-1, I dont think Nick needs to be pulling up tree,s just yet. A safe 4-4-2. or even a 4-5-1 for his first game in charge is what we most probably see on Saturday. Whatever team/formation he goes with, the fans will be behind him 100%.
my formation and almost my line up too . My only change would be to swap Fryatt for McLean. but either / or really
