To offer a job - if it doesn't go right for Peter Taylor after 8 games ? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28797071 It looks like Pulis is not a 'Yes' man - but I'd love to see him back at Gillingham - Pulis does seem to have an ability to get the most out of 'ordinary' players. ps - does this football management 'departure' ( before a ball is kicked ) qualify as some sort of record ? - at least the Huddersfield manager lasted one match !
HA ha ha. If you ever thought Scally would have Pulis back, apart from the cost,Scally hates him with a vengeance. Apart from Stoke (where the fans didn't like him) I think he has fell out with the board/owner with every club he's been with.
I assume this post is made with tongue firmly in cheek but In all honesty I wouldn't want him back. He did great things here. Let's just leave it at that and stop living in the past.
GeminiSwiftgfc Thank you for recognising that most of my stuff isn't 'serious' - but ON a serious note - you have to say that the managerial record of Pulis is quite impressive -given the resources at his disposal. I believe that he deserves a chance at one of the 'bigger' clubs ( which doesn't include Gillingham ! ) I do not know if there was any substance to the allegations against him whilst at Gillingham - it's none of MY business - but it was a shame that there were reasons to cause his departure - and from a purely footballing sense, I wish him well in his next position.
Everywhere Pulis goes trouble never seems to be far behind, obviously the issues here, the Stoke sacking and subsequent re hiring and now the Palace fiasco...
I have total respect for ALL that Pulis has achieved in his managerial career. He has made mistakes, so has everyone, but turning Stoke into an established pampers team and keeping palace up in the situation they were in was just incredible. That being said I stand by what I said earlier, I would not want him back, as I didn't want Hess back or Taylor. Why must we always be looking to the past?
A) we have a manager b) Pulis is a premiership manager, we are a league 1 club C) Pulis and Scally would sooner kill each other than work together again
Without wishing to be too defensive: A) We have a manager - but for how long ? ( see D) B) We have had 'premiership' managers at Gillingham in the past C) Your point (C) is accepted - I think that GeminiSwiftgfc realised that I wasn't being serious in this post, - but football is ( to use a quote ), a funny old game ! D) My OP included a (only hopefully) hypothetical situation - where it all goes wrong for Peter Taylor after 8 games - as it did for Mr.Allen. The timing of the Pulis departure from Palace gave me the opportunity to pose a bit of nonsense. Whilst in principle I believe that we shouldn't be 'looking back', I doubt if many fans wouldn't welcome him as a 'potential' manager ...... if it all goes wrong etc.
I know you were only messing around, I was more replying to those who thought the only reason Pulis wouldn't return was because of Scally when in reality he has gone up since he left us whereas we've gone the other way. I hope we don't have to consider a new manager, be nice to get some decent points on the board early and not have to panic for the rest of the campaign.
