Last evening song tonight for our beloved EASTEND and with Crewe tickets now on sale the end is indeed near. 45 plus years of visits for me and there have been changes, sadly seems it will be gone for ever soon now, will never forget you
Welcome Glos Old Buy, glad you've posted! Yep i'm going to miss it too. Granted I haven't been in there as long as you but the past 4 years have been great, even if the football hasn't! Saying that I am excited for the new stand, Can't wait to get my seat which i'll keep till I die! Not very happy about moving for next season, still debating what end to go in, Williams or Dolman, Eastenders cant move to the Atyeo which is a shame. Think I might go Dolman D Block.... Fair well to the night games at the EE.... shall miss it.
Come to A block with me Shiny, I'll look after you I came out of the Eastend when they shut it first time so my memories are more distant, but it had to be better back then surely. (most weeks)
Some amazing memories all viewed from there... The best of which were Cashley scoring from his own penalty area The 3 goals we scored to beat Chelsea in the FA Cup A 1-1 Draw with Spurs in the '71 LC Semi Final The Playoff semi win against Hartlepool with Christian Roberts winner Securing promotion to the Championship against Rotherham (3-1) in 2007/8 Clive Whiteheads goal to get us promoted to the 1st Division Happy Days
Whats the view like? think I sat there a few seasons ago when we played West Brom in a friendly. Wasn't to bad, my only worry is the when everyone leaves 10 minutes before kick off, OH and being so closed to ROD....
Glos old boy, welcome to our forum mate, there are a few of us older fans on the forum and a good mix of the young ones, we are free and easy and have respect for one another, so please enjoy and contribute freely.
'The best of which' For me it was beating Liverpool 2-1 after being 1 down h/t in front of 37,000. It was a Monday night before we drew at Coventry 3 days later to stay in the top division. I was amongst more than 10,000 on the East End. Will be hard to ever better the atmosphere that night.
Sorry Glos Old Boy where are my manners...? A warm welcome to the Bristol City forum. Please contribute regularly and be part of our happy and growing little bunch
I can remember coming in to Bristol along Bedminster Down and seeing the "Georges" sign on the roof of the East End when I was a lad. Is my memory correct or have the years taken their toll?
Shiny its a good view in A block but you gotta put up with Stoney bellowing across the stand ROD is not a problem he goes with his wife and if he tries looking around she sticks the elbow in to him, he's not allowed to speak to the Hoi Polloi..
Wow seems like a nice site, no abuse yet............what a refreshing change..............we are the East End, we are the East End, we are the East End Ashton Gate laters............
Shiny you go and sit in A block with Banksy, Red Robin and NTTDS. Along with my mate and his son Hyper Ashton. Don't worry I'm in D block
I never went there too many times as in my younger years, I always tried to get in the center block and got squashed. My Dad liked the open end and that's where I spent most of my youth until the Old Man decided that he needed a seat. Dolman was far more civilized.......
I use to love the Eastend in younger days, how can anydody forget that almighty surge when a goal was scored.
