I know we hold Malky in high esteem but it seems to me that Cardiff wouldn't make an approach unless they thought Malky was interested (maybe they have heard via a third party). I base this on the fact that they have interviewed a number of candidates already - elsewhere I see the number to be as many as 7 other candidates - so it is logical to assume that they don't think they are wasting their time. I'm convinced though that he will stay if he is shown the right amount of support by the board now. This strenghthens his hand to say to Baz - give me your support both personaly and in the Team - recognise me for how good I am - and if you don't, then I understand but I'm off! What do do you think? Resign or accept the Board's decision? Update: 16th June at 19:25 Looks now that he will resign tomorrow with compo agreed at quite a high amount + 500k maybe? Update 17th June at 15:45 Malky has now officially left Watford for Cardiff as reported on the official website Onwards & upwards to find our new Saviour!
i'm hoping he will realise the whole club is behind him, that this wouldn't be the best move for him, and that he is better of staying with us for at least another season...and if the board do get behind him, i see no reason why he would go...but maybe that's just wishful thinking!
It does put him in a strong position. He can go to Bas and say give me a decent transfer kitty and back me or I'll go. Not really sure of what his resignation would mean - such as compensation or just flat-out refusing it - but hopefully Malky will be happy that he is wanted here and glad we refused the approach
Foolish to resign ahead of a board meeting to discuss this matter. I have a feeling the latest from the club http://www.watfordfc.com/page/NewsDetail/0,,10400~2376671,00.html should have been kept within the club and made public only if MM left the club. Surely much of this sort of thing would have been discussed in any post season de-brief, however hypothetically, negating the need for anything to be done in a panic now; as how could Dave Jones leaving Cardiff been forseen or any of the other managerial movements come to that. Certainly any post season player sales, where the new owner saw the club going, money available for new players, how things may be generally improved for next season. etc should have been discussed already. It is not unreasonable for MM to be ambitious, and surely it is the club's duty to support the manager (as best they can within the constraints we have) where the club and the managers ambitions lie together. I just wish the immediate part of MM's career plan is with Watford, however bright the Welsh or other baubles appear. Making this sort of thing public will only strengthen Cardiff's resolve to persue our man.
I think he will turn round and say sod off to Baadiff. He is an honest man and i dont think he would leave the job half done when he has it quite good at the club and has just signed on for another 3 years. I very much doubt he would have even spoken to anyone about it as he is not one for rumours!
Could be various reasons including possible legal action. Good to see no lone ranger cavalier approach. Including the board in this type of thing is positive.
babyhornet where's baadiff ? Or are just a racist all of the time, next thing you know, you''ll be calling Malkey a Sweaty Sock when he moves down the M4 to greater things and money
How is it racist? or is that the same principle as the 'N' word? We cant use it but you can?? Cardiff and Swansea are both known as the Sheep-Shaggers ergo Baadiff is a reference to that. If you find it offensive you only have to say. Just think yourself lucky i am not going on at you about your inability to read. You constantly spell Malky wrong, despite it being in the title of the article.
Greater things? Behave. We were worried last year that Mackay might go to Norwich (had Lambert left for Burnley, as was speculated), a bigger club for whom he has obvious affection. We'd be rather more disgruntled if he went to a club which doesn't represent a significant step upwards.
I can't help thinking that MM needs to stay with us until a better offer, from a better club comes along. If he moves, yes, he will get more spending money, but a lot more expectation and hassle. Take your time Malky, another year gaining experience will help you in the future.
Look out W_Y, you dont want to be racist now do you!!?? You might incur the wrath of isawronnymoorescore!!!!
The Welsh, and the same goes for the English, or Scots are not a race, they are a nationality.....I suppose some could claim to be Celts though
The earth contains no race of human beings so totally vile and worthless as the Welsh ... I have expended in labour, within three years, nearly eight thousand pounds amongst them, and yet they treat me as their greatest enemy. Walter Savage Landor, British poet, letter to Robert Southey
I have heard of names such as Jones The Steam and Evans The Post - but that is a new one on me - is it a character from Under Milk Wood?
I fully expect Malky has had his say to Baz. No news is bad news on that front. Time for Watford to have a plan B me thinks.
I have been reading some of my mail on the subject and without knowing if there is any information or just speculation, will say that Cardiff have offered £600,000 and Watford want £800,000. It also stated that Mr.B is a personal friend of Lawrie Sanchez and he has been to a number of Watford games with him.
