Sorry but I'm not that bothered if he does anymore to be honest I'm sure JW will find another midfield just as good I have total faith in him plus his form did peter out near the end of his loan and it didn't sound like he didn't want to move to us on a permanent basis judging by his interview on Radio Bristol after his last game.
would be a good signing and he did well on his loan spell but on the other hand, if we are the last on his list then i would rather have someone else who would join us cos they want to play for us rather than having no other offers and signing for us cos he has no other options!! we have had to many of those kind of players before... I think JW should just put an offer to him and if thats not excepted, then move on! we dont want to wait around like we did last season with constable.. I have faith in JW and think he will have other options anyway! as long as he does not wait too long
I'd really love him to and I think he will bed in well at the club, but in my heart of hearts I really don't think he'll sign. But as Mark1 and seamge say, I have faith in JW recruiting a suitable replacement before in time for the start of the season. God, I miss watching football.
Sometimes we all get to hung up on if a club is a players first choice or not. The reality is that an agent will negotiate the best deal possible for the player and any leverage or brinkmanship that increases the pot or adds a sweetner happens all the time. We have revealed our hand and shown serious interest in JJ he can use that in negotiations with other clubs whilst still enjoying the offer in the back pocket, aside from that he has a years contract left with his existing club so whatever happens he is not desperate to jump ship (his existing club will be keen to either move him on or reduce the wage bill by loaning him out, as they have before assuming he no longer features in there plans). Its still early days in the window so I am happy to chill and see who fills the important midfield spine role that JJ occupied so well and helped us avoid the trap door last season. As for his form this was in part due to personnel changes and injuries at the end of the season which led to him playing a different role, also players are not robots they do have bad matches. COR
If that was JJOT at his worst during his "bad patch" I would take him all day every day. Simply magnificent player at our level and I am gagging to get him back in our squad.
only issue i have over JJ is ward willing to wait until the end of the transfer window for him JJ to make his mind up. ward should have an earlier deadline and have a plan b, c, d, e, f and g ready as we need to hit the ground running. personally i would prefer all targets in by the 1st game of the season. infact earlier so the new players can get use to the rest of the squad. just my opinion though.
I must admit I'm losing enthusiasm for this. I only want JJ here if he positively wants it. There will be other players around as the season approaches, and Ward's knowledge could get us another good player. I'm happy that we've already secured Mildenhall and McChrystal.
I located this piece posted by the Colchester manager 25th May. So it may be the case that JJ is not in a position to influence his own decision yet. Joe Dunne's intense summer of developing his Colchester United squad is well underway, and the Irishman has explained his views on how he sees the summer months progressing in his transfer quest. The U's squad was heavily boosted by loan deals last season and, with all of those temporary additions returning to their parent club, the remaining U's squad is looking thin on the grounds of quality â¦â¦ But they are going to have to be patient to see those deals coming to fruition according to Dunne who explained that he may have to wait until the beginning of pre-season to confirm his squad. 'We're in talks with other parties that are at a good, advanced stage, but I think this summer will have to be one of patience,' he revealed. 'I don't think a lot of work will be done yet and we'll get to pre-season and go from there. 'If you're on a good wage at another club you'll take that until your contract is up in July and join teams at the back end of pre-season; if you're cutting your wage by half then you'll take that other month. 'There will be teams with extremely big budgets who will be at the top based on their spending power and the rest of us who will have to challenge and fight - it's becoming uneven.' Most of the permanent U's squad are under contract for next season. â¦â¦â¦â¦. 'We've offered contracts to who we want to keep and now it's a case of seeing people play others off and see what happens,' he continued. 'It's their right to see if anything else is out there. 'I'm not someone to put an absolute deadline on things, and if someone else comes about who I think is better then I will go there.' The arrival of Craig Eastmond has left the U's looking fairly loaded in central midfield, with Alex Gilbey, Andy Bond, David Wright, John-Joe O'Toole and Kem Izzet also fighting for a place in there, which has led to speculation of departures. O'Toole spent a large part of the past campaign on loan at Bristol Rovers and is strongly rumoured to be heading elsewhere before August, but Dunne explained that he doesn't see anybody leaving just yet. He said: 'The players are all contracted so I don't see anyone leaving. We'll take any calls and discuss players because it's a free market and that's business.'
looks as if he is up for grabs just if we are offering enough to prise him from the club and he wants to drop down the League a little 2 steps back and one step forward he would be welcomed by the supporters and maybe do a Campbell job for us.
interesting. apparently he has been told he has no future at colchester so is free to find a new club and will be a free transfer. we have already offered a contract to o'tool which he is considering. his contract with colchester is not up and is free to still remain at colchester if he wishes but has been told he has no future at colchester. if he comes to us he will need to drop wages i suspect. so he is taking his time with his decision as he is still covered by colchester with wages so its no rush for him. i put down no for this poll that i dont think we will sign him. however i am feeling more optimistic today after reading his latest tweet.... john-joe o'toole ‏@johnjoeotoole "Gettin alotta love from the gas. Minds ticking!"
I see that JJ is receiving lots of Twitter messages from Gas fans encouraging him to join us. There is a scenario that would probably suit him best, not necessarily the Gas tho' He could come to the Gas on loan again on the offered terms, with his contracted salary topped up by Colchester. His options are then left open for a transfer and a different contract elsewhere. The only advantage for the Gas would be that his services whilst he is here would be up with the best of those when he first joined us as he will be showcasing himself again! Bit cynical I know!
or even better.... He could come to the Gas on loan again on the offered terms, with his contracted salary topped up by Colchester and NO recall facility so we keep him for the season. However, if we get promoted he signs a long term deal with us but if we fail to go up then he is free to go elsewhere.
