Morning ladies, just a quick question...do you think MM should be sacked for his foul mouthed outburst? I am no shrinking violet and personally was not offended by what he said but the fact that he said it is not good, i cant see how he can keep his job after abusing the people that pay his wages! I know he takes his fair share of abuse but he gets paid shed loads and it comes with the territory, sorry Mick but you let yourself and the club down. Time to be shown the door me thinks!
The part that made me smile was his denial in the post match interview saying he was just celebrating the goal. Shame for him that we didn't need to be good lip-readers
Yep that made me laugh too. At no point did he deny it was aimed at the fans like the title of the article on TWTD says. He just said he was celebrating the goal. The man is nothing short of a disgrace. Sad thing is I can see ME doesn't give a toss either.
I don't think he'll be sacked today or before May. If we had an owner who was genuinely passionate and cared about the club, then Mick would've been fired long ago. As it stands, I think Evans will just watch the contract run down to the summer and then they will part on amicable terms. Mick has clearly fallen out with most of the supporters and I think most of the fanbase are against seeing him in charge for next season. With attendances falling and the mood turning increasingly sour around Portman Road, I can see no financial benefit to keeping him on and it's not like he's had any real success over the past three years.
I assumed he was just going mental to start with / enjoying the moment - however appears he did indeed say it to our lot which is very odd considering he nullified Norwich's very overpaid and massively under performing squad a treat first half in particular - when they looked bang average. Very weird thing to happen and isn't going to do himself any favours whatsoever.
The man just got emotional in the moment, it’s understandable. I don’t think he does himself any favours being arsey with the fans but he was getting a lot of abuse.
I dont like any abuse by or to anyone, but the man has clearly lost the plot, lost the supporters, lost us mere mortals who can only dream of the kind of salary plus bonuses he is on, and there is, in my simple book, no excuse to be foul-mouthed in a very public place - and, ho hum, yes, the cameras are On, and a much wider audience world-wide witnessed MM at his worst. As others have said, he and ME will stooge out the final few weeks, and let's hope for a clean break and fresh faces all round the Club end of summer. That said, give the players that were on the park some credit, in the 1st half seemed more like our old selves at beginning of this campaign.
Like you Spanish it doesn’t offend me.....but it’s just so unprofessional and if he thinks that Chambers scoring against the run of play against Norwich somehow is justification for all that has gone before that has got the fans so riled up and disheartened................and in the interview he was happily bringing up the gulf in money spent by the two clubs, well if he is actually a ‘no nonsense tell it how it is stubborn yorkshireman’ that he claims then why doesn’t get the balls to call out Evans on the subject....oh yeah his silence on criticism of Evans has already been paid for. I also chuckled at Chambers interview when he openly said ‘we will never play attractive football’ after a short pause to think he then added ‘well not overnight’ just a glimpse into his thoughts on the style of Mick?
The issued apology from Mick will keep him in a job. Marcus doesn't have to sack him 'cos he said sorry. I already fear that he will be here next season. He didn't look like he was celebrating to me when he mouthed the words, a pure look of hatred was what I saw.
No he won't be gone, looks like he'll probably be staying ffs. The only reason he thinks it's a small section of fans is because the others already don't ****in' go to games to lend more voice to the protests. Maybe it's time for those that stay away to go to a game and let themselves be heard. https://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town...wont-be-driven-out-by-a-small-section-of-fans
If he stays beyond this summer then there is only one person to blame and that's Marcus Evans. If one decision could sum up Evans' ignorant, out of touch, and unambitious ownership of our football club over the past half a decade, then handing Mick a two year contract provides precisely that.
Big Al, with the benefit of hindsight we can say that decision two years ago hasn't worked out. However, at the time myself, and many others, thought it was the right decision. And you can understand why. Mick had come in, prevented relegation, improved the quality and commitment of the squad, had a play off season, and we were playing effective, direct football that was mostly winning matches. Compare it to the Keane and Jewell years before, and we were quite rightly hoping Mick would stay on. Unfortunately, the quality of football hasn't progressed, key players who departed were not sufficiently replaced, and the results went downhill. This was best demonstrated last season when we finished in our lowest league position in decades and came four points off relegation. That's when the mood changed and supporters were rightly hoping for a change. Mick's deteriorating relationship with the fanbase and overall arrogance didn't help matters, the absence of a playing identity certainly contributed to our poor campaign, players like Murphy not being replaced played a factor, and Evans' lack of investment and lack of profile overshadowed the decline of this club. There were a few anti-McCarthy posters who have been against him since he stepped through the door. If you're against a manager at a football club, nine times out of ten you'll eventually be proven right as it's easier to underachieve than consistently achieve things. Especially at a mid-ranking Championship club, which is unfortunately what we are now (and what we have been for years).
I hear what you say Nuggets,I was pretty vocal at the time Mick's contract was renewed as I was already disillusioned with the football on offer and could see we were going nowhere good.
It will be so depressing if Mick stays, time is right for him to move on. -no positive progression since last extension -end of contract so no cost to ME - soured relationship with fanbase That's without considering entertainment factors. I think the only factor staying the axe is experienced and available managers willing and able to operate on a restricted budget.
