    Stick or Twist ?
How long do we persevere ?
Is it time to move him on and bring someone else in ?

We should watch video’s and look at the game plans and formations of the teams he was playing with when he was free scoring.
If we want him to score lots for us we should change how we play to the way his former sides played.

It’s not working now, the way we are playing, and he never looks like he will be ‘on fire’ with us.

Either we completely change to suit his game or get rid of him and get somebody who fits in with whatever you would call our style.

As nobody is scoring (from open play ((apart from the Hartlepool friendly))) it's probably our system that is no good.

I’m glad those running our club failed to sell McGeoch. He was our best player yesterday.
It’s a pity those running our club wouldn’t buy Shankland who looks to be just what we do need.

True dat. You couldn't accuse him of not trying yesterday he played with a lot of effort and determination but had no chances on goal that I remember. If he's going to play then we need to play to his strengths or there's no point.

er Mcgeady is not a striker but look what he does also Watmore, if we got a free kick outside the area would Grigg take it ? we are stuck with him now. If our players tried to run through a defence we would get more free kicks, and if the crosses were better. the three defenders brought in by Ross match Flanagan now ! i hope that was a one off from them or it is curtains for us, i would make 6 changes next week. Oxford battled every where a thing we did not, got to give Oxford credit mind, they were resolute at the back, i like thier number 11 he caused us trouble. I want to see them defenders 6 inches behind a player and hassel them and put the ball in the stand down the wings. Hell of a tough game next week as well.

Grigg is definitely a conundrum for us at present.
He's not scoring as he's not being presented with decent chances which considering the midfield options around him seems unbelievable.
If it was down to him not being arsed and not trying which Nacho says he did try then it's got to be the service into him.
He needs a good run up front with a settled team and second striker around him as chopping and changing from 1 or 2 forwards isn't working.
Jack's got to sort this out pronto.

He seemed half a yard off the pace yesterday. There were a decent number of low crosses into the 6 yard box and he was nowhere to be seen

****ing Ronaldo would struggle for goals when we are setup so flat and lifeless.

I thought he put in no effort, shows how different people see things. I watched him “look” like he was closing down whenever the defence had the ball and he knew minimal effort was required!

The fact he wasnt even getting his game for Wigan before we signed him should have given us abit of insight in what we were getting before we paid stupid money yet again.
However i was hoping after a full pre season with us hed improve massively. Sadly I was wrong.

Not another game longer, loan him out, and get McNulty up front, or he might just wonder why he should bother as well.

Why are we buying players from Wigan for over the odds money for people who can’t get a game there ?
    F@k me, I’m at a loss here

It does make sense that if someone's nearly good enough to play in the championship they should be plenty good enough for league one given the gulf in quality between the leagues. He has also scored goals in this league, lots of them for his last club. Not exactly inexplicable is it.

No doubt we paid too much for him but imagine the uproar if we hadn't been able to sign anyone.

No need to watch any video, Grigg will never be a contributor. He's never in space, always covered, but he was still served six or seven, 50-50 balls yesterday and did not win any of them. His reacts slowly to balls near him and never seems to move to where the ball is going to be. In the friendly against the dutch side, there were about 25 well executed give and goes. One of those return balls came to Grigg. He looked surprised or confused and didn't even make an attempt to go to the ball. Just not a ball winner. It's a damn shame too. Because he needs very little space inorder to get a shot on goal.

    a) Why buy Grigg? He was proen at this level, he was as close to a guarantee of goals as you're likely to get. Yes he wasn't getting games in the Championship but similar I'd liken the situation to that of Gayle at Newcastle. In the Premiership he's mostly poor but in the Championship he's a beast. In League One Grigg was a beast, I'm sure he was expecting - given the size of Sunderland - he'd be able to fire you out of the league.

    b) Offload now? I'd say no. His price-tag was not his fault and can't be used as a stick to beat him. He looked off the pace last season (injury, match fitness, etc) and can't have that excuse this year but we're only one game into the season. I'd add that I think McGeady is the player most likely to get the best out of Grigg in my view and he wasn't started (for reasons I cannot fathom).

Also... do you think Ross under-estimated Oxford? It felt like he wasn't quite playing a first choice team, maybe with an eye on next week. I hope that isn't the case as he must surely appreciate the importance of momentum, especially at SoL.

I think Ross is out of his depth even at this level, simple as, he's drawn 20 out of 47 league games against some awful teams. Sets up not to lose, I want a manager who sets up to win.
Nigel Clough please to get us out of this league.

I am more worried about Ross than Grigg in fairness.

I still think both can come good but unless he's pushing for the top 3-4 places at the very least I can see time being called before Christmas. Early days, it's just that home to Oxford is the nice kind of season starter which should have you getting momentum.

Technically haven’t paid much for him all said. The £4m fee is only if we get to the prem with him-still here (according to SD). That simply won’t happen. I hope it works out for him and he finds that golden touch again. Our fans are notorious for not giving players a chance (fully proven by the twitter meltdown and this site over the weekend)

To me he is a modern day footballer. No passion and is here just for the paycheck

I'm not convinced with Grigg. I'm really not sure his heart is in the club. I watched him last season and his body language was very poor. Look at the difference between someone like Maguire and Grigg..a world of difference in attitudes
