The expert pundits, ex-players and managers all say that winning the first trophy is always the hardest. That elusive first major honour is the catalyst to greater and better things so the question is simple. Will SAF, at 70 years old, ever hold the EPL title in his hands again. Man City are the wealthiest football club on the planet and without doubt will invest again this summer to build a squad capable of winning the European Cup as well and who would bet against them? They could easily dominate the title for the next 2 or 3 years and with Chelsea about to make a huge decision and make another push for the title, will Man Utd and SAF have the time and the investment to keep up? Man Utd are not good enough as has been shown in the Champions league or the EPL, even though they came very close and their key players in Giggs and Scholes are nearly 80 years old between them. I would never dare write them off of course but its not beyond the realms that at 70 years old, time is not on his side and SAF may well never again hold aloft the biggest domestic prize, something he has done 12 times previously. Mind you, 12 EPL Titles; 2 European Cups; 1 UEFA Cup Winners Cup; 5 FA Cups; 4 League Cups; 1 FIFA World Club Cup; 1 Intercontinental Cup; 1 UEFA Super Cup and 10 Community Shields are hardly chicken feed are they. Lol
Yeah I recon he will get the twentyith title, you cant put the man down, he will be smarting right now, but when the new season starts, he will be out of the traps like a young racehorse. He breathes the game, and I should think he will buy well. But interesting none the less. Dont know if his counterpart over the road, can withstand the pressure the way Fergie can. One hard season is one thing, the second might just take its toll.
My point is though with that 1st trophy under his belt, Mancini is not under as muich pressure as he was this season imo. I think the second one will actually be easier and they will have another £100m + to spend no doubt this summer. Fergie wont have that kind of investment to match it and maybe theor time has pasased now. These things go in cycles, Liverpool had the 70's and 80's; Man Utd, interspersed with titles for Arsenal and Chelsea the 90's and 2000's but I think that may be changing now to the Sky Blues of the Etihad now. We shall see of course and next season will be a far better one imo with maybe 4 or 5 clubs in the hunt - City, Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs.
Will an Englishman ever win their own league? English managers are **** so therefore pleased our's is Irish.
You could give any English manager currently in the prem the resources that City have and they will challange anyone for top spot, To answer Cest's O/P yes Fergie will win another title , not so sure of Mancini though
Fergie will definitely win another title. Most likely next season. With his rather poor (by Manure standards) squad, he himself got them level on points. With the addition of quality in the centre of midfield, they will cruise the league. Other teams will strengthen but Fergie has enough of a barrier from those below and has enough guile to take down Mancini
I reckon he's needed to replace Scholes and Giggs for years but has failed so far. The weakness is still in the engine room of midfield and unless the modern crop of today's players come good ManU will fade unfortunately.
Well I think City will run away with the title next season, and Ferguson will then call time on his amazing career..So I don't think he will win another title.
Danger for Ferguson is the desire to carry on and try to win back the title but end up doing a Clough if you like, and staying on too long with the result that the last season or so becomes hugely disappointing. You can't write them off but I can see City now dominating for a long spell while United fade. Maybe 1 more year for Fergie and let Guardiola take over ? You never can tell though !
They desperately need a quality central midfielder and when you consider after rooney the top score was cicharito with 10 they need a proper partner for rooney, welbeck and the little pea are only good enough to be back ups. Ageuero got 20odd and ballotelli and Dzecko both got 13. Will Fergie win the league again? Yes. I think Man City will get their heads turned by the desire to win the Champions league like Romans boys at the bridge
Both Manc clubs had the same record this season.....W28 D5 L5.. Hopefully next year the blue majority of the city will put a lot more points between them...... Then a revived Chelsea, along with Arsenal (who have already made on major signing) may well put Fergie nose further out of joint... So i reckon he won't lift the title again.. please log in to view this image
