I say yes. He is finding it difficult to find a buyer and I reckon this is a reason behind it. This would be the deathknell of us if this happened.
Yes, if he doesn’t get the asking price he is hoping for. And there is no conceivable way that he will get £50m or anything like it for a mid table League One club he has denuded of decent players. Sparrows Lane’s value is a myth - it is protected from house building development. If there is even the whiff of Duchatelet trying to separate Charlton from the Valley, that’s when the protests need to be ramped up to an altogether different level, Murray included. It must be a complete ‘no no’
Of the playing assets, what has he got left to sell ? By and large they are all freebies, loans or crocks. Maybe £1m for Aribo and 500k for Fosu when he is fit ? Solly is a crock, Jackson is past it, and Magennis has been rubbish. Have I missed anyone?
A realistic assessment of the value of our strongest 11 (sic)- Amos - loan Da Silva - Loan Solly - crock Pearce - crock Bauer - crock F-Caskey - crock Kashi - out of contract Reeves - pass Marshall - crock Matividi - Loan Magennis - sh1t Aribo - £1m possibly, based on potential Konsa - going Igor - crock Ajose - nobody has rushed to snap him up
Roland keeping the Valley would kill Charlton for the foreseeable future, but there's no evidence so far that he is considering this option. It wouldn't even make sense for Murray to be colluding in it, since he would probably die before we get into the PL. If any evidence does come to light there needs to be a massive protest on his doorstep. Kashi goes for free in the summer. Ajose and Igor are worth a fraction of what we paid for them. The playing assets have been stripped.
As @baraettmattesvensson and @ForestHillBilly say, if you look at what RD has left to sell from the talent pool, there isn’t much. Katrien Meire’s steel reinforced bras are probably worth more than our remaining squad.
It's possibly more about saving face now. The money won't make any difference to Roland. Being branded a failure would.
The camera panned on to the squirrel last night whilst watching the Sheffield derby. I almost choked on my fish and chips(from The Salisbury, and served by 'her'}.
