After admitting that he previously wanted to sign him in the past, Wenger was also chatting to him after the match Maybe just congratulating him on yet another fine performance, or maybe putting ideas into his head. Who knows. I think most would agree he is of a high standard, probably Arsenal level. Do you think Wenger may make move to take him to the Emirates?
Only if Sunderland terminated the loan deal, so there'd have to be something in it for Sunderland, I can't see what they could legally offer. He'll have a fair few offers in the summer I'd imagine unless he ****s the bed for 6 solid months from now, can't see that happening. Edit, Sam Allardyce would probably tell Arsene to go whistle anyhow.
Cheers TJ. As long as we've got him to the end of the season and helps keep us up, then fine. I can't see us competing with a CL club after that. Unless that is, he falls in love with the charm of the great City of Sunderland
Hard question to answer at present. I wouldn't say no to him but there are players I'd rather have instead.
I think if there's gonna be a scrap on for a dm/midfield boss in the summer it'll be Dembele from Spurs.

Yann M’Vila insists he is focused on the present - not the past – despite Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitting he wanted to sign the Sunderland man. M’Vila was arguably the best midfielder on the pitch in Sunderland’s defeat at the Emirates on Saturday, with the French international continuing the fine form which has seen him thrive for the Black Cats since arriving on loan from Ruben Kazan during the summer. Wenger – who chatted with M’Vila in the tunnel afterwards – confirmed in his pre-match programme notes that he wanted to sign the French international when he was emerging with boyhood club Rennes. “We were interested in him when he was in France and the year we wanted to bring him in, Rennes did not want to sell him,” said Wenger. “He had a few off-the-field problems, but it looks like now he’s stabilised and he’s a very good player.” But M’Vila – who has a clause inserted in his loan deal to convert it into a permanent move to the Stadium of Light next summer – laughed off those remarks from his fellow countryman. “Yes, I read the comments,” he said with a smile. “It was obviously nice, but that was the past. This is now!” M’Vila was full of positivity about the present, despite Sunderland succumbing to a 3-1 loss which, coupled with Bournemouth’s shock win at Chelsea, sent the Black Cats back into the relegation zone. “We had the opportunity to get a good result, even to win, but we couldn’t take the chances,” he said. “We had so many chances, perhaps more than you’ll ever get in a game against Arsenal. “That’s rare against a team like Arsenal. We had a lot of control. “But we just couldn’t find that final touch.” The calibre of Sunderland’s performance at the Emirates should not dent the renewed confidence of the Black Cats though, with previous back-to-back wins evidently producing a positive upturn. M’Vila believes that since the arrival of Sam Allardyce, there has been a far greater mental resilience to the side. “It’s getting better all the time,” he said. “At Crystal Palace it was okay, against Stoke a bit better and then against Arsenal a bit better still. “I think if we carry on playing like that, then we’ll win more matches. “The mentality and the confidence among the players is a lot, lot better. “That helps you because the games coming up are very important for us. “But if we play like that, then I’m confident that we’ll get more important results. “That might have all come from Sam Allardyce, yes. “He’s made us a much stronger team mentally. “We are disciplined and the proof is the way we played at Arsenal.” Read more: http://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport...ene-wenger-s-comments-1-7610087#ixzz3tdezHppw
"But M’Vila – who has a clause inserted in his loan deal to convert it into a permanent move to the Stadium of Light next summer – laughed off those remarks from his fellow countryman." Interesting no mention of providing we`re still in the prem.
Or you could put a spin on it. No mention of ' i hope to sit at the negotiation table and get my future sorte asap. I should work in politics.
No they can't. He's contracted to us until the Summer and we have an "option to buy" although the details of that are sketchy (have to be put in for any international loan) - could be that we have an option to buy for £10m but the wage package is tiny so the player has to agree that. Hopefully FIFA will step in and say we HAVE to sign him.....
Does an 'option to buy' not mean we have first refusal to buy him providing we meet the arranged fee? Surely the player is under no obligation to sign for us should we activate it - he'll almost definitely have other teams interested in him.
No - that's the way that players and agents do it though. They put in a loan deal and a fee which has to be met by the buying club - they then put in a wage that is optional to the player rather than compulsory and has to be agreed at the time of purchase rather than the time of signing the loan deal - the player than holds all of the cards should they succeed in their loan. As for the OP - He is that level of player - but I would so love us to buy him
I'd say, if you're gonna sign him permanently, you should bend over backwards to get him in January. If not, after that all you'll hear is "I'm just concentrating on playing football", which translates to "In the summer, I'm going to see what better offers I might get".
Exactly, it's an 'option'... not exclusivity. Your option is pre-arranged, so you could have a deal in place for £6m and if you offer that, they can't refuse, contractually they're obligated to sell him. Another team could still offer £20m (or whatever R-kazan value him at) and buy him in the mean time (after he returns to his parent club). That's why January is important, you essentially have exclusivity.
