Because of the pressure placed upon ourselves, and 4 difficult matches to navigate, do you think 8 points will be enough? Forget about the stupid points we virtually gave away earlier this year and focus on the belief that we can get the job done, in specifically the next 2 games, because without serious points from the next 180 minutes of football we are essentially dead in the water. The first major hurdle is up at the Riverside, against possibly out fiercest rival for one of the last playoff spots, and perhaps the numerical dynamics might be less of a factor come the final whistle on Saturday should we lose. I think Derby might have a strong advantage over all their competitors with their 2 games in hand but of course they might have to play those extra games within a limited time span. Another factor that comes in to play is the question as to whether some of the also ran teams will play weakened, or youth based, squads in some of the vital games against our competition - not unheard of in the past. The proof of the pudding will unfold before our eyes, sooner rather than later, so let the chips fall where they may but only as long as they favour that team from Ashton Gate. Our team EH.
No, I don't think so, I think 10 points for us = 75 and that still may not be enough, 77 I think is the number needed for 6th place, which means we have to win all 4. If we win all 4 of our remaining games and Boro beat Millwall, then only goal difference with Millwall can stop us.
I gave the arbitrary number of 8 only because I wasn't too sure that number would cut the mustard. If we do indeed need 10 then I don't think we have a cohesive enough squad to reach that level. After the semi-euphoria of the 3 points against Brum we could fall back to ground with a thump up at the Riverside. Forever the optimist.
Posted elsewhere 9 points or 3 reality of anyone winning 3 ... the situation is now depending on a mini league involving the top 11 teams WOLVES PLAY 4 TEAMS IN BOTTOM 8 DERBY PLAY 3 OF 5 GAMES AGAINST TOP 7 so 3 games here that will detrimental effect on teams 2nd to 11th the current minimum points to currently guarantee top 6 is 75 ...... current 2nd to 4th guaranteed top 6 finish CITY totally dependant on the results of teams 5th to 11th to even think about top 6 especially Millwall
