Yeah he's born in Stone, Sarge, your neck of the woods. I used to think he was a Championship player, but I am glad he's sealed this deal with hus 100% commitment from him, great lad <ok>

I recorded the match off ESPN and watched it back yesterday, Wilko got mentioned a few times for being the only local lad from either side.

He is sort of. My barber, a massive Stoke fan, as you would know if you spent a mere 5 seconds in his barbers, says he's initially from Yarnfield, which is sort of Stone I guess.

Great news, top player and is Stoke through and through, would love to see more local players come through the academy and break into the squad. Wilko went to school with one of my brothers mates, turns out Wilkos brother is quite a gifted player aswell

STOKE CITY have today confirmed that Andy Wilkinson has agreed a new contract which keeps him at the Britannia Stadium until 2014.

The 26-year-old Stone-born full back, who was a member of the triumphant City side which secured the Club's first-ever FA Cup Final appearance, has secured his future for the next three years by putting pen to paper on a new agreement.

Wilkinson made his debut for the Potters in the 2003-04 season and became a first team regular as they won promotion to the Premier League.

"Andy has played a major part in the success which the Club has achieved and the fact that he is a local lad who has come through our youth system has made him a big favourite with supporters," commented City's Chief Executive Tony Scholes.

"We all know what a proud moment it was for him to be part of our Wembley win and we are delighted he has committed his future to the Club."

Manager Tony Pulis added: "This could go down as one of the most successful seasons in the Club's long history and at a time like this it is important that we look after those players who have helped get us where we are today.

"Andy is certainly one such player deserving of that recognition and I am sure that he has an equally vital role to play in our future."

Wilkinson featured in City's 5-0 triumph over Bolton Wanderers at Wembley Stadium after recently returning to the starting line-up and he played a part in setting up the fifth goal for Jon Walters to seal that triumph on Sunday.

"This has capped an amazing few days for me," said the defender. "Being a local lad, it's always been a dream of mine to play for this Club, never mind having the chance now to play in an FA Cup Final following our win at the weekend.

"It's been remarkable to see the progress this Club has made in my time here and I am excited about what the future holds in store for us."
