Suddenly Mark Hughes doesn't seem like such a bad idea...... Ray Wilkins has admitted that he would love the opportunity to return to QPR in some capacity following the surprise sacking of Neil Warnock on Sunday afternoon. Warnock had seen his side pick up just two points in the last eight league games and fall perilously close to the relegation zone when he was informed that he was no longer needed at the west London club. The former Sheffield United boss had led the club to automatic promotion but will now be looking for a new job, with Mark Hughes the red hot favourite to take he role at QPR. However, Wilkins has made it clear that he could be tempted to come back into the managerial hot-seat after a number of months working as a pundit after leaving Chelsea. "I thoroughly enjoyed my stint there before, I enjoyed my time at Chelsea. I think I've probably grown in that field quite a bit over the last couple of years. So it would be very pleasant to take on," said Wilkins who managed the club from 1994-96. "If what I'm saying at the moment puts my hat in the ring then yes, that's the case." Wilkins also suggested that there will be plenty of competition for the role with Ruud Hullit and Guus Hiddink also being linked with the vacant role at Loftus Road. "I think Mark Hughes is a very good contender. There's no reason why Mark's name shouldn't be in the frame. "I've not seen Guus' name mentioned but he's a good man. He's a good football man as well. He loves London, so there could be a possibility. "I'm sure Ruud would jump at the opportunity to have another bash at it. It didn't go too well for him in Russia (managing Terek Grozny) but I'm sure he'd jump at the opportunity." http://www.sportsvibe.co.uk/news/football/wilkins-interested-in-qpr-job-14729/
On January 18, 2011, FC Terek Grozny, a Russian Premier League football club announced that Gullit has agreed to sign a year-and-a-half contract and become the head coach for the Chechen side. Gullit told Sovetsky Sport: "I'd like to believe that I can bring joy into the lives of the Chechen people through football [...] Of course, I won't deny that I'm getting lots of money from Terek."[28] Gullit was sacked by the club on June 14, 2011, having only won 3 games as manager. The club also said Gullit had a "party lifestyle". Sounds like a match made in heaven...maybe TF will join him on the dancefloor
As above with knobs on. He clearly believes he did nothing wrong during his first stint. He could be the first manager to get booed before the team even kick a ball under his regime.
If RW is ever becomes associated with us I will sincerely return my members card with graphic instructions as to where TF can place it! The gnome f..d us once. I won't watch him do it twice!
The only way Wilkins should be welcomed back to the club is as a coach to the under 18's. He is def NOT a manager.
and keep him off the scouting team....haven't forgot he managed to find the only Aussie that couldn't settle in London!!!
