Both came from the Eredivisie in the summer after excellent striking records at that level. Bony had 51 goals in 69 games and Jozy 39 in 67 games. Both are powerful direct centre forwards and both are built like brick ****houses.

Both came to England to unfashionable sides and at this moment in time both clubs are involved in a relegation scrap with only 3 points separating the two clubs.

However, in two struggling teams both players have very different scoring records.

Bony just scored his 7th EPL goal in a 12 goal return in league and cup and won many plaudits for his performances, whereas Jozy has generally flattered to deceive for most of the season and has a paltry 1 league goal and 1 cup goal in some 20 appearances.

The question is, have we failed Jozy to assist him to adapt back in the UK (we had been pretty woeful until Gus arrived), as opposed to Swansea who have benefited Bonys career, or did we just buy a pup and Swansea the real deal?

Bony scored a goal yesterday v Spurs that Jozy just doesn't put himself in the position to do so. I don't see an out and out striker in Jozy whereas I see a man who wants to score goals in Bony. I like Jozy the man and he seems like a really good decent fella but I don't see him as being here after the summer clear out (if not before) as there is not much use in a centre forward who just doesn't score goals?

So, do we stick with him and see if he can fit into Poyets team style, or do we look to move him on in the summer and look to buy again in an attempt to solve a problem since Bent was sold, of attracting a real goal scorer who can net 15+ a season?

Cest,we need goals now,and Jozy can't even buy a goal.We should bite the bullet, admit that we have bought a bad un,sell him now,and sign someone who can put the ball in the back of the net.Jozy couldn't score in a brothel!

Jozy needs to start scoring, his confidence will have been decimated, similar to Graham last season.

If he carries on the way he has I wouldn't be surprised if he left in the summer, just to give him a fresh start in a less pressure-filled enviroment

Jozy can be good but he just needs too much time to settle on the ball before shooting.

Needs to start hitting a fee first time.

Looking to run off the shoulder too

A lot of people have having been giving Jozy **** myself included.
Maybe all the **** he has been getting is dragging him down.

I would love Jozy to come good and score a few goals he might just need a season to get up and running and used to the prem.

Its amazing how much money we have wasted over the last 4-5 years on forwards

    Wickham 8m
    Graham 5m (worst signing ever)
    Ji 2m
    Jozy 6m

Christ just think who we could have got for 21m

Bony looks a cracking player who has settled into the Prem well he looks full of confidence which is something Jozy badly needs

Can he do all that while watching the defender then running over to give him a hug? :p
I have seen the ball passed perfectly to where he is standing and he makes such an effort to interfere with the defender the ball rolls past him.
He needs to work out it's the other way round, get the ball then worry about the defender.

I believe he's a dud unfortunately. Even on a very basic level he's completely unable to use his physique to his advantage, it's so frustrating how feeble he is.

I don't even believe his bad form is due to a lack of confidence, I think he's just a poor footballer. Positives would be his age theoretically leaves room for development and he does score for USA but I'm not sure how based on what I've seen.

given some of our approach work and the need to hit a front man Jozy does not stand chance of receiving a decent ball laid into him. Kept two defenders busy on Saturday but was living of scraps as usual.

He reminds me of Heskey at the end of his career - after he became ****e as Heskey started OK.

The bloke is a mountain. Absolutely huge yet he is so easily knocked off the ball.

Spends more time trying to play the man rather than the ball. Stupid thing is that he has the ability, back to goal, to hold the ball up and pick a pass (have seen him do it a few times so surely can;t have been lucky every time) - Against Chelsea in the cup he had the ball, 12 yards out with no defenders around him and he messed about with it rather than shooting. I watched a couple of his goals from Eredivisie last year and in similar situations he scored with a first time shot.

He must be capable - just unsure how you can get him back to "knowing how to shoot" when he has a chance.

I'd start Borini up top on Wednesday with Giaccherini and Johnson on the wings

Im so glad this is a thread. Im sick of the abuse Altidore is getting its ridiculous.

Did anyone watch the Swansea match yesterday? The difference was quite clear.

Bony -short balls played into his feet and he immediately had 3 players up next to him or running beyond him. I lost count of the amount of times he had 3 players higher up the pitch.

Altidore - Ball lumped to him head height from 50 yards away, two center backs on.him with no Sunderland player within 20 yard of him in any direction.

Another difference, 10,000 nuggets with '**** sake Altidore' on their lips ready before a ball has even been kicked.

Bit over the top fella. We've scored 11 in the last 4 mate . Yeah it's not Ideal our strikers aren't scoring but lets not storm into a panic buy. We're not struggling to score at the moment so I'm happy to bide our time and give Gus the chance to land his targets, the right targets. If that takes till deadline day then so be it.

Jozy's 1st spell in England (Hull) is a heavy weight on him, and he had a big point to prove to himself. If he had hit the ground running, he would have been fine. If his Arsenal goal had stood, we might have seen a different man. However, his confidence has been wrecked by his time under PDC and consequent lack of goals and the pressure he has put on himself imo.

I also dont think we have been using him properly. We have him as a target man, him against 2 defenders, using him for flick ons etc.

In most of his international goals, he is running onto the ball with passes going to his feet or a few yards ahead on him.

Yeah, some of the opposition arent exactly shining lights in football, but you cant say the man cant shoot.

If Jozy is sold, I reckon its will be more due to the fact he doesnt fit into Poyet's system as he cant use him properly as a lone striker, more than that Jozy isnt scoring.

You wasting your time there mate. I've been saying this all season but folk seem to think because he's big, he has to be a target man. he's 6ft1 and 12 and a half stone going up against 6ft3, 11 stone center backs. He might as well be a washing machine trying to win headers. He's got plenty pace but virtually no acceleration so anything other than a ball to his feet(either running on to or static) is a waste of service. I know folk will expect him to be good at something he's not regardless.

Not defending his recent performances though as I think both he and Fletcher have been lazy ****s.
