How did they get shut of the squirrel from Loftus Rd, or is he still there? My problem isn't squirrels, it's rabbits. I counted eight in my garden last night, and even a manic fox chasing them for half an hour or so didn't even manage to bag one. Any solutions out there? Nothing too gruesome, I have young kids and I'd prefer to stay within the law.....
Got a couple of roo's in my garden p-ing me off...you could borrow them if you want ?! In the post to you now !!
Couple of strategies: -introduce a predator such as cat. Cats mark every part of their territory and rabbits are particularly sensitive to smell and so are likely to be put off by the scent -mow your lawn. rabbits not only feed on the grass but they use it for nesting and camouflage if it is long -remove food sources. rabbits are herbivores and feed on any vegetables but have a particular fondness for green veg such as lettuce or cabbage. Also if you are making compost, make sure it is sealed are tight as they are likely to try to get in to feed -dont use traps as there laws against them -if necessary instead just call in an exterminator problem if it is too much You say youve got young kids so why not just keep them as pets? Provide a hutch and it'll reduce the amount of damage they can cause to the garden and its certainly cheaper and easier than the inevitable can we get a dog/cat?
The way these guys are multiplying I reckon I'd have a whole herd of Pygmy roos in no time, think I'll pass on that one!
If I can catch one, the hutch idea sounds great. The kids would love that. As I said, I watched a fox trying to catch one of them and he failed miserably, I won't try chasing them! Thanks for all the info.
Spread tomato paste onto a slice of toast Spread organic cheese spread onto another slice of toast Place both slices in the garden at night The next morning the toast will be gone and so will any rabbits Mixingtheirtoasties
I could come round in my red silk speedos and pull them up hard until my hands touched my nipples I haven't found an animal that hasn't run off yet
Concrete - lots of concrete, i've yet to see a rabbit investation in a large carpark. Or a powerful torch, a shot gun and earplugs for the children. or if the Fox is struggling to catch the rabbits what you need to do is either slow the rabbits down or speed the fox up, have you tried giving the fox some sort of performance enhancing drug, there will be loads of this in the country soon i suggest visiting the Olympic village in a few months, alternatively my mate who lives in the country said to slow rabbits down you either need to feed them heavy food or fit little lead boots on them, Hope this helps let me know how you get on.
Rabbits are easily tamed and caught. Spend time outside around them with some form of food source and they get used to your presence pretty quickly. Or if you work in groups theyre pretty easy to catch. Its only if you them chase around by yourself that they become impossible to catch
