What do you reckon to this? Personally I think we would be mad to sell one of our best talents to a championship rival. http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/23135/wigan-again-linked-with-cresswell
Don't want to see Cressy leave but if the money we get for him is re-invested on a couple players that really improve us then I won't complain. Trouble is, would Mick get the money to spend? It looks like we have to sell to have any money to spend on players, our last few deals were all freebies and the war chest seems to be a tad empty.
Anything over £4 Million and we should seriously consider it bearing in mind that Tranmere are entitled to 20% of any sell on.
He's my favourite current player and has been our best player by a country mile the past 2 seasons, definitely has the capabilities to play in the PL and this time a year ago I was dead against selling him but if the price is right I can see us accepting £3.5 million given FFP I can understand why we'd sell. There aren't many players around with value (particularly in our team), so selling him may well mean we can bring in 3/4 players. I doubt Mick would be able to replace him with someone as good but I'm sure he'd get in a solid reliable LB as a replacement. As I've said before I don't think loosing a player like Cresswell will have that much of an impact on our final outcome under Mick. I don't think recruitment under Mick is as important as it is under most managers. If we had any other manager in charge looking at the squad we currently have I'd be quite concerned.
Tranmere are entitled to 20% of the profit we make on Cressy, taking into consideration the fee we have already paid them (if I've got it right)
i reckon we should hold out for little bit longer, try to get a bidding war going for him considering there might be a left back merry-go-round when baines moves to manure.
