West Bromwich Albion have rejected an offer from Wigan for Peter Odemwingie. The Nigeria striker has been linked with several clubs this summer but Wigan are the first to make a bid, although the figure was not disclosed. However, Baggies sporting director Dan Ashworth says the club will not sell the 30-year-old and confirmed they are in discussions over a new contract. "We have no intention of selling Peter and we are a bit disappointed that Wigan have tabled this offer," he said. "We spoke to Wigan beforehand and made it clear Peter was not for sale, but they still proceeded to lodge a bid - which has been flatly rejected. "We are in discussions with Peter over a new and improved deal to reward him for his efforts last season and we are very hopeful these talks will reach a successful conclusion. From BBC Football
