Wigan Athletic v Swansea City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Date - 2 October 2018 Kick Off - 19.45 Venue - DW Stadium Following their impressive 3-0 demolition of QPR, next up for Graham Potter’s Swans squad is a visit to Wigan. Courtney Baker-Richardson scored his first senior goal and could have had a hat-trick before the break as the hosts dominated throughout the contest. QPR showed signs of recovering in the second half before Connor Roberts and Jay Fulton struck late to give the Swans a first win in four matches. That took them up to seventh in the table. Whilst the Swans were beating QPR, Wigan lost at Norwich where Mario Vrancic’s late penalty was enough to best the Latics. The sides had looked to be heading for a stalemate at Carrow Road before the home side's Finnish forward Teemu Pukki was held back in the box with less than five minutes to play. Bosnian midfielder Vrancic made no mistake from the resulting spot-kick and Paul Cook's Players were unable to find a response. The defeat dropped Wigan to eighth in the table, one place below Swansea on goal difference. The teams didn’t play each other until November 1984, and in the 23 matches played, Swansea and Wigan have each won 10, with 3 drawn. The teams last played each other in a PL match in May 2013 when the Swans twice equalised before winning 3-2. The scorers that night were Angel Rangel, Italy Schechter and Dwight Tiandelli. Turning to Tuesday night, Wigan will be determined to bounce back after their defeat against the Canaries, but I’m hoping that the Swans will be strong enough to gain at least a point. 1-1
As glam said, this is going to be a tough game, but we've shown we can be resilient on the road. 1-1.
Its all about opinions and I respect yours but after watching the team so far this season I don't believe that we have to fear anyone , that's not to say we will continue this good form but with the squad of players now available, the way that they play and work for each other then a point would be the least of my expectations . I hope I've not jinxed us
Confidence is high , a near full strength squad to pick from and we are rather good away from home ,Wigan have lost 4 games and conceded twice the amount we have so I'm going for 1-2
Pretty sure all midweek championship games are on sky now (not that I have sky), but should be able to find a feed somewhere.
One of my rare away trips was to the DW in the League Cup just after Roberto joined Wigan. I think we lost 2-0 if memory serves.
Definitely be a stream tonight - Sky are showing all EFL midweek games, so someone is bound to put it up.
Entilery depends on the energy we put into this game. Play as we did weekend and I think we'll win 2-0. If we have a midweek hangover though then who knows. Starts for Carroll, Routledge, Dyer, and the CB I keep forgetting the name of as I see Potter resting Rodon, Roberts maybe McBurnie, probably or Carter-Vickers. Could see young James start but I think its too much to expect Byers to start after Saturday. Might see Fer off the bench, personally I hope not, we need to look after the Captain. Not sure how near Celina is to recovery so we may see some of hime tonight too. My prediction Swans win 0-2
