As per JWM's request - simple as that - good for the club or bad for the club?

I'm in favour. If the boy doesn't want to be here then I don't want him here. Good luck Connor.
Here's hoping the money is spent wisely.

I'm in favour . Agree with san diego's and although good in flashes never really rated him as a ten million pound player anyway . Not just now anyway . Come on lads you could get gio for just over half that .

    Depends.

If PJ gets the lot for transfers (unlikely) and spends well, it might be fine, Although my gut reaction is, had we managed to pick up three of four more players during whats left of the summer, I'd rather have him in the team as an option, than not.

On that basis I'm going to have to say against, I hope I am proved wrong mind.

I am in favour if PJ gets the money as a warchest and spends it wisely, but against it as it does show weakness within our club and weakens the squad

Agree with tractor boy, very much in favour as long as the moneys reinvested in the squad.

Against, will be weaker without him. Had money for new additions anyway so new additions plus CW would have been more exciting!!

Against, I really feel the club could have done more to keep him for at least one season. Stay hear Connor, develop your game, get a full season under your belt, regardless of promotion we'll understand if you want to go. But not just accept the first thing that comes his way!

I know he sometimes comes across as a bit of a joke but can you imagine Barry Fry rolling over to the first bidder!

Connor is not a Bowditch or Clarke situation either, this guy is going to be scoring goals for many years to come, a real shame to let him go so early.

Clegg saying this is a good day for Ipswich shows his lack of footballing passion.

Also, the notion that 'Regardless of Wickham's sale players will still come in" - Exactly, why the hell are we selling him them!

The only way I could see this as a deal that needed to be done is if Connor absolutely hated Ipswich and demanded to go, surely more could have been done?

In my opinion only promotion will cover over this deal.

    Deflated, big signings required now...

Was like everyone else for the move if we got great cash to spend wisely!

I wont be happy till we buy another decent striker..having Scotland and Ellington in the same squad frightens me....imagine having to sit through 90 minutes of that?

Mind you I always hate it when we sell decent players and was really gutted when Bobby left for the England job (but of course was very proud with Englands 1990 World Cup performance)

I guess only time will tell how we use the money and what sort of success Connor has!

BTW fair play to the lad for signing a longer contract with us when he always knew deep down he would leave...how many players would do that today?

I 100% agree, I feel like I should give Ellington a chance before judging him but I would feel a lot more comfortable if we got another striker in with Chopra.

I would have loved to seen the Chopra/Wickham pairing in action but considering the amount of players lost over the summer I think getting in a few strong signings in is better for us at the moment.

I think we should have kept him at least another season, when we get promotion we'll need a young, class striker, what will we do then? (just my humble opinion).

In favour of it, because I think £8m is a good price for the lad. He may well turn out to be a world-beater but the money can be invested in the squad now, and I'd rather have promotion sooner than later waiting for Wickham to dominate the CCC. Still sad to see him depart, though.

At least there is a bright side, Connor will now help the budgies relegation campaign and help that woeful goals against record they will have!
