Hurry up already..... Sick of reading about it. it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, it's off/ it's on, etc...
The board have ok'd the deal, should be completed in the next few days. ã10m to spend on players this summer. ã5m a year thereafter (nett). Day shya voo?
I really can't be ****ed with this until there's a picture of the **** handing Ally a cheque for 10 million. Am I the only one that think's Whyte looks a bit like a burns victim? Simon Weston comes to mind
There seems to be an affliction with anyone who owns a football club. Dezzie Desmond looks like Dick Dastardly. The glazers look like inbred Amish people. Roman Abramvich looks like a giant gay kid. John Boyle - pantomine villian. I could go on....
An added bonus will be that we get to see Chick Young furiously back-pedalling. He's been adamant all along that the deal won't go through.
Please do.... As for the Whyte deal, I don't know. A few days ago I felt a vague sense of relief when it appeared the thing had fallen through, feeling that Rangers had probably done well to extricate themselves from this man. I can't point to anything in particular, obviously, let alone prove anything concrete, but something about Whyte sets alarm bells ringing. I just find it very hard to imagine that he's a trustworthy figure. If it all goes to plan, however, and the deal goes through successfully and Rangers suddenly find themselves in capable (financial) hands....then all's well and good. Good for Rangers, good for Scottish football and good to see an end to all of this ceaseless speculation. I hope this is the case. But without wishing to be needlessly pessimistic, Edge, I trust you'll forgive my doubts. (And the tax problems, of course, whilst on the surface a distinct and disconnected problem, could potentially derail the best laid plans of any investor, whether he happens to be trustworthy or not.)
The ideal solution would be if the guys behind the rival bid co-operated with Whyte. We'd clear the debt, have ã35 million immediately available to invest in the squad followed by another ã20 million over 4 years. I can dream.
Cardinal, that would be the ideal scenario. Rangers really need, as a club, a seismic shift in direction to ensure that we are never in this situation again. We need a long term plan, the 'instant success' route benefits only the short-sighted.
I wasn't serious about splashing that amount of cash, but it's nice to dream given our recent austerity. I do feel, however, that it would be better to have as many investors involved as possible. We don't want to be in a situation again where all our eggs are in one basket as they are with Murray.
