http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/9432180.stm Am I the only one wondering why they've apologised? Apparently it was 'inappropriate' for them to be at a bar the night before a game that they already knew they would not be involved in. I just don't get it. It is not as though they did anything wrong like glass someone, chin their bird or have a sniff orgy so why is this such a big deal?!
I think the bigger question is why has the club not learnt from Hughton's example? Why drag this out in front of the press? I couldn't give a proverbial 'airborn-fornication' (Cheers for that one OT) if our players are acting like young lads (which they are) as long as it doesn't affect their game (which it didn't).
Why indeed. Totally pointless making an issue out of it. The press love any scandal involving NUFC though
I think it's because the press have made an issue of it, the players won't be getting disciplined for it so it's obviously not an issue with NUFC. It's more to appease the press and to stop them from making more of it. The only thing I can possibly think of itis : the players should be with the squad and getting behind them rather than pissing it up when they are supposed to be injured. Since Ireland hasn't even played yet. That is my onlt possible explanation.
I wish Ireland would **** off, he's been here two months, hasn't played a minute of football but has already caused a minor tabloid scandal. I was saying it before he signed, he's not the sort of player or person we need at the club.
I think this is a little harsh, we don't know how he'll do for us or how he'll impact the team. That being said I'd question whether being out on the lash, hanging around with birds and their shirts off is speeding up either one of thems recovery.
As Alfie said, little harsh BUT wouldn't be surprised if he leaves without having contributed anything positive to the club at all...I'll afford him the chance to prove me wrong though!
Even if Ireland did play well and stay, I don't think he'd even get into the team. With Barton, Tiote, Nolan, Jonas and HBA all fit, I think he'd only get on the bench. And with youngsters like Ferguson and Vuckic coming through, that wouldn't be great.
Can some one explain it to me if Ireland failed medical and is still injured and we knew it when we took him on loan who's paying his substantial wages, which then begs the question why sign Ireland and instead pass some of that wage onto Carroll to keep him or is that too simplistic?
Because it was supposed to be a minor hamstring pull and was supposed to be fit weeks ago, unfortunately he's done very little but go on the piss apparently so he's not healed. Perhaps Joey should have a quiet word on the evils of the booze and professional sport.
Aslong as he didn't drink way too much and caused public disturbance, and he didn't take drugs, i don't give a **** what he did. He can shag 9 noweigan prostitutes for all i care, aslong as he doesn't have a GF or a wife ofcourse.
The fact is that it doesn't look very professional, though think they were naive and will learn to be careful, as this is sadly the way media is about footballers these days.
