Have had Player for years...works out at £39.99 p.a. and I enjoy it. You can see recordings of games, often all 90 mins, replay highlights of past seasons, and videos supporting articles on OS. I have just watched the August episodes from The Road To The Premier League. Brings back memories of those games...didn't remember how many games there were. Comments of players at the time. Lambert saying that Ipswich fans have more expectations of the season than we do. Interesting to see Connolly score 3 goals...what a shame that injury limited his appearances for us..PL standard player. Reminded me how tough that Millwall game at SMS was. And still don't understand how we didn't get the equaliser at Leicester.
Thanks Fran, good post. I am not signed up to this, but think I may just have to do that. It would also be good for my lad.
SaintsPlayer and the website itself has improved significantly since that Jim Lucas became the new Communications Manager at SFC. Far better articles, better questions and videos, and more frequent articles/videos. So I agree with Fran, well worth it - live commentary also! And well done to Jim.
Probably daft question - but can you get live commentary wherever you are if you sign up? I can't get BBC Solent on digital radio or on computer as I'm just out of the area and have to sit in my car down the road to get 96.1. Not much fun when it's freezing cold!
Signed up during one of the seasons after I refused to go because of Lowe & Co, and had got out of the habit of attending. It was appallingly bad back then. I should re-appraise it. They still send me the Friday Newsletter.
Think so, though I never listen as couldn't stand the tension. Some people complained they got opposition commentary...but they may have cured that.
If not sure, you could wait until they do a free trial, but I bet you have to provide bank details and cancel if you don't want it...I hate that. Saints are tied to a deal with the supplier of Player, but suspect that Nicola will want to do his own thing once the deal is finished.
Definitely worth signing up to Saints Player, especially if you're out of the solent region, like me. Very good value.
I signed up last year 'cos I'm based in London. Well worth the money. Streams through your laptop or pc and you get the added bonus of being able to listen to other games that may affect Saints position.
Rescued this thread from the basement after watching the October games from The Road to the Premier League series. That month had everything: we were unbeaten, Rickie hattrick (and I was there!), de Ridder equaliser against Reading, Jos Tuesday special against West Ham, terrific stuff from Chaplow, the 26? pass goal against 'Boro, Holmes goal, and Connolly showing why he is a loss. The top of the table was also interesting as teams were coming and going with us the only constant.
Good post, Fran. Definitely the best 30 odd quid I have spent on a Saints related add on. The commentary is good, and works anywhere in or out of the UK. Listening to the opposition's commentary is an option, and you can access othere sites that are run by the same operator. Whenever I've been away I've relied on it heavily, and means I can get some of the comments next time I go to a match.
Absolutely. I lived in the US a couple of years ago and streamed the commentary of every match. I also managed to listen whilst working on a cruise ship using satellite Internet in east Asia. Well worth the monies!
Maybe we should club together and buy a Not606 subscription. We could share the Log-in. Would only be a few pence each per month and we could time-share the slots. I have it and like to use the medium quality download and use full-screen- not too bad at all.
