So we lost and by the sounds of it, went down with out a wimper. But we have had a tremendous season, when you think about it...all of us towards the start of the season were worried that we may depart the league downwards and find ourselves still on the verge of the playoffs. With a few additions over the summer we will have a strong squad to choose from and with Nigel's wisdom mould a great youthful team! Cheer up folks!!!
I have to agree, i don't see the negatives in this season, obviously it was disappointing but when you have such a young side and such a small squad you can't expect to perform week in and week out. We have the basics of a team that could do well at this leve, we just need to give time for NP to arrange the squad he wishes.
I will admit that i had my doubts about NP at the start but he has seemed to relax a little along with the team and we have shown that we can play well! Although i must admit that we do need a new left back in the mould of Liam Rosenior as Daws has had his best days but is still a good player and a city legend! UTT!!!!
i think its natural to be down, when chance after chance have been presented to us by other teams, and each one passed over.. im sure wel have a good go next season, but a lot of people are putting we will walk the league next season, and imo thats nonsense... the 3 teams coming down will be fairly strong, leicester will be stronger, whoever doesnt go up from burnley, cardiff, reading, etc will be strong..average teams like coventry and boro themselves will improve, and next year will be just as tight, if not tighter then this year....therefore however good an effort to get close, blowing the chance to hit the top 6 this year, when so close feels ****e..
Or you can look at from another point of view..... we have the experience of fighting for it, we have money to strengthen and we will strengthen until we are good enough to go up. Obviously it is horrible not to reach them, but to reach them from where we was was nearly impossible, and that is down to NP and the management team. Why look at it from the negative point of view?
call me weird..but after seeing my team hammered, in a game which could have seen them put 1 foot in the play offs ..leaves me feeling in a negative mood... im not criticising anybody for us not getting in the play offs, but arent gona be all happy and smiley about it either, ...if we get hammered in a friendly, i dont like it..so i certainly dont like it in an important league match.. when the dust settles after the season, ill look forward to next season, but for now it stings!
I completely understand, i don't think anyone is happy about losing. However there is a difference between happy and positive. If you look at things from a positive angle about next season and how this year we have done far better than anyone thought.... I do agree about the division next season, i think the key is the three teams coming up, they are class teams coming up Southampton and Huddersield have some quality in their teams and have plenty of money. Also i think Brighton have a good manager and a good squad.
i think its going to get to a point where theres about 20 teams all going for promotion..it seems to increase each year... makes it entertaining but bloody hard to get out of, thats why i didnt go along with people saying its a year too early, grab your chance while you can i say.. still wouldnt be surprised if we beat qpr and give ourselves hope again, really hope we dont miss out on goal difference, that would be a sickener...
Thing is i could see it happening............ I agree, everyone thinks that they deserve a chance to get out of there. I can see teams taking more of a chance and a few more teams going bust though.....
I don't think anybody could be happy about the shambles that was the first half of today's game, but I completely agree that there's a lot to feel positive about. For a start it's not impossible just yet for City to make the playoffs. Also, it's not that long ago that survival in this division was a real worry. A top half, never mind a top ten, finish will be a real achievement and we've got a really good manager who's building a good young side. Ok, we were awful today and at just the wrong time, too, but it's not the end of the world. It's not even the end of the season.
I think some people, like a certain argumentative **** who had an article pulled earlier, need to realise that this is about the 'right' level for our club. We're not a massive club who should be in the Premier League, and we should be happy to be where we are, especially considering the position we were in both on and off the pitch just a few months ago. So we lost one game - big deal. Boro thrashed Man City 8-1 just three and a half years ago, but it means nothing. Look at how different their fortunes are now! Wigan lost 9-1 and 8-0 last season and stayed up. Freak results happen, and let's not forget it was only 4-2. Other teams have had FAR worse results than that.
Quite simply.... **** happens, i'm pissed about the way the errors came about, shouldn't happen at this level, its Sunday league stuff. The truth is though, that it happened! so drown your sorrows for this evening and then get back up tomorrow and look at what this club has done in the last 12 months, what its gone from, what it has achieved (yes even up to now, i see what NP has done and the allams and the club as an achievement in its own right) and then decide, do i want to bitch about it for weeks on end or do i take it on the chin, as one mentioned before, its a freak result and we move on. Take your pick: Duffen, Brown, Overpaid players, Stupid structure to the club, No passion, eagerness or desire to do anything but gather wages, DEBT, risk of no club at all, nothing but free-fall possibly or if not then a seriously unorganized club waiting to be destroyed. or .... Allams, Pearson, Normal paid players, Great structure starting to emerge in the club, Passion, Willingness and drive to take the club forward from the players, No DEBT, and a football club to still follow. And maybe few years to figure it all out, put the pieces together and become a great club, (e.g look at stoke as much as i hate to say it) I'll start us off, i'll take the latter option thanks.
The fact is a lot of people on here wanted Pearson to change his tactics and he did that, it didnt work, maybe in future you will understand why we have to play a bit more defensive, a full season with Pearsons players and all the deadwood gone, using his tactics throughout will see us get promoted next season.
That's why people like Tony Warners Prolapsed Colon or whatever his name is are ignored and/or derided as ****tards.
A disappointing result but when I look at the season as a whole I am happy. Before Christmas we were looking at a relegation fight and wondering if we would go bust. We have gone from that to a team almost competing in the playoffs. IMO Pearson has done a great job. Ask yourself if someone offered you the position we are in now back in November would you take it? I know I would.
yesterday was nothing to do with tactics, it was simply 3 farcical errors, under very little pressure, i thought dawsons back pass was bad at the time, but after seeing it again on tv, it was worse... also thought him knocking it into the path of there player for the 3rd was bad at the time, but then started to think i was maybe a bit harsh, as he was making a tackle,.but after seeing it again on tv, it was worse then i thought, got there well before there man,. and played an inch perfect through ball...
Sat 6 Nov City 0 Scunny1 Played 15 W3 D5 L7 Pts 14 -staring relegation in the face. Before yesterday Played 42 W16 D15 L11 Pts 63 -on the verge of grabbing the last playoff place Well done Nige.
Well done Tigers - like us you started the season a little fearful but have had a great season and only just missed out
We were never staring relegatiom in the face. We had a bad start and no money but we still had a better squad than most of this league. Its nTurally going to be a disappoinment losing a game you would normally win 2-0, but for 4 absolutely comical goals not one of which Boro deserved. Especially when the teams around us (Leeds, Burnley, Readimg, etc.) Are finding it so easy with worse squads than ours.
